Must be Crohn's or UC. Not good, a life long problem that can be reasonably controlled with newer meds. If it is the infectious type, usually responds to antibiotics in 1-2 weeks and he should be fine soon, not off the 110 roster.

My daughter was diagnosed with UC a few years ago.  Her case was not a severe as some, but still serious.  Doctors put her on a drug called Asacol, and it took a month or two to resolve her issues.  Everything has been good since, with only a few minor flare-ups.   I think most of the medications for this take some time to work into the patient's system, so hopefully Thomas can be back in 6-8 weeks.

MIL has UC. The medication does/did take several weeks to fully work, but the bigger hurdle was the weight loss and loss of stamina/energy.

It might take 4-8 weeks for the meds to work, then this kid is going to have to put back on the weight and regain the lost stamina.

Best of luck to Ambry in his recovery. I also agree with you about the depth. Zordich's CB recruiting over the last few years has left A LOT to be desired.

Wasn’t the chatter that he’s back and just needed to add weight which he was well on the way to doing?  Side note: not sure how I feel about coach sharing medical information.  If Ambry approved of it then I’m fine.

There's no way Harbaugh shared that if he didn't have permission. Harbaugh is incredibly tight-lipped about stuff like this under any circumstance.

So he clearly has permission. Also, if I had to guess, things look worse now than they did last week when people were saying "maybe Big Ten season." They're getting ahead of the story.

Mystery illnesses stink, but at least some of the media hubbub goes away when they explain what's going on.

It's not even a Harbaugh thing. Harbaugh and the University would be in serious trouble if he violated FERPA. Universities make that painfully clear for all their employees.

The term "colitis" is pretty vague and could mean anything from an infectious viral colitis (what most people would call stomach flu) to a chronic inflammatory colitis (something like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis) so it's pretty hard to predict a return time table without more information.

It's a good idea not to practice medicine based off of Twitter

It could be bacterial and caused by taking antibiotics which is what I got it only lasted a couple weeks but I lost like 12 pounds in a week.  Also it can be deadly for some.  There are 3 main types or most common. C. Diff. Ulcerative or Crohns. Hopefully it just happened but if it has been over a month then it sounds more like a problem that could last.  Get Well Ambry!
