Ambry Thomas has Colitis
CB is arguably our thinnest position, and it is getting thinner (no pun intended).

This tweet is even more gloomy...

I listened to the presser. I didn’t hear where he isn’t on the 110 man roster. I could have missed it. But, that’s not what I heard.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:36 PM ^
Haven’t had a chance to listen yet. Hope you’re right.

Click videos and it's the most recent one. Says he's not in the 110 at the 8:55 mark

He said at the beginning of the presser “he’s not on the 110”
August 13th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
Someone with a Michigan flair on reddit said it was a title 9 thing and that it isn't a permanent thing or a big deal. I don't know enough about what all this means myself.
August 13th, 2019 at 11:59 PM ^
Must be Crohn's or UC. Not good, a life long problem that can be reasonably controlled with newer meds. If it is the infectious type, usually responds to antibiotics in 1-2 weeks and he should be fine soon, not off the 110 roster.
August 14th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
My daughter was diagnosed with UC a few years ago. Her case was not a severe as some, but still serious. Doctors put her on a drug called Asacol, and it took a month or two to resolve her issues. Everything has been good since, with only a few minor flare-ups. I think most of the medications for this take some time to work into the patient's system, so hopefully Thomas can be back in 6-8 weeks.
August 14th, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
MIL has UC. The medication does/did take several weeks to fully work, but the bigger hurdle was the weight loss and loss of stamina/energy.
It might take 4-8 weeks for the meds to work, then this kid is going to have to put back on the weight and regain the lost stamina.

Get well soon young man. Damn it! We’re not allowed to have nice things.
August 14th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
Perhaps you should not refer to another human as a thing you possess. I don’t give a shit (pun intended) about the idiom’s intended meaning, you’re referencing a young man whose health is more important than your fandom. This isn’t about you or Michigan—it is about Ambry Thomas’s life.

You seem fun

Lighten up, Francis.

Best of luck to Ambry in his recovery. I also agree with you about the depth. Zordich's CB recruiting over the last few years has left A LOT to be desired.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
This sounds a-Maizen!
August 13th, 2019 at 8:36 PM ^
That didn't take long. This is why everyone hates you Maizen. This thread is about a kids health, not Zordich's recruiting.
Here's a neg for you though.
On edit: Nice edit, jerk.

i gotta say, i appreciate the 24/7 game of whack-a-turd by the mods. god's work, right there.

Sounds like he could use a colectomy....
August 13th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
yeah, good idea. Lets SURGICALLY REMOVE the kids colon before first trying to heal him naturally and or w/medicine.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
Really dude? That's like a last resort in a lot of cases.
Edit: Didn't see your reply above me and totally agree.
August 13th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
Maybe he’s a candidate for a fecal enema. That’s actually not a joke. Newer evidence is bringing to light the idea of injecting “healthy poo” into your body to normalize the bacterial numbers in your colon.
Butt what do I know.
August 13th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
It’s actually called a fecal transplant and he just needs a good donor, U of M performs them as I’ve had a few patients get them done there.
August 13th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^

Donation station!
August 14th, 2019 at 1:41 AM ^
They said a good donor.
Nothing from Columbus is a good donor.
August 14th, 2019 at 8:47 AM ^
One of the U of M labs was working on this very thing a couple years ago. I knew the lab manager and they had some very encouraging results. Sounds kind of gross but ask someone with a problem in their gut if they would do something like this to improve their quality of life and most would jump at it.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
Wasn’t the chatter that he’s back and just needed to add weight which he was well on the way to doing? Side note: not sure how I feel about coach sharing medical information. If Ambry approved of it then I’m fine.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:37 PM ^
No one cares if you're fine with it.

There's no way Harbaugh shared that if he didn't have permission. Harbaugh is incredibly tight-lipped about stuff like this under any circumstance.
So he clearly has permission. Also, if I had to guess, things look worse now than they did last week when people were saying "maybe Big Ten season." They're getting ahead of the story.
Mystery illnesses stink, but at least some of the media hubbub goes away when they explain what's going on.
August 13th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
Agree. This seems like a really bad sign that Jim got into specifics.
August 13th, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^

It's not even a Harbaugh thing. Harbaugh and the University would be in serious trouble if he violated FERPA. Universities make that painfully clear for all their employees.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:26 AM ^
HIPAA. FERPA is grades. Although his colon gets a D-
August 14th, 2019 at 7:20 AM ^
Thanks for the correction. I have FERPA on the mind because my admin is always complaining about me emailing her student grades.

August 13th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
What does Phil Steele have to say about that?
August 13th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Phil Steele predicts Michigan will be assuming its rightful place atop the B1G- just like it has 42 times before.

The term "colitis" is pretty vague and could mean anything from an infectious viral colitis (what most people would call stomach flu) to a chronic inflammatory colitis (something like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis) so it's pretty hard to predict a return time table without more information.
It's a good idea not to practice medicine based off of Twitter
August 13th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
This rumor has been floating around since at least mid July. That doesn't sound like something simple like viral colitis.
August 13th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
It could be bacterial and caused by taking antibiotics which is what I got it only lasted a couple weeks but I lost like 12 pounds in a week. Also it can be deadly for some. There are 3 main types or most common. C. Diff. Ulcerative or Crohns. Hopefully it just happened but if it has been over a month then it sounds more like a problem that could last. Get Well Ambry!
August 14th, 2019 at 7:36 AM ^
UC and Crohn’s aren’t caused by bacteria. They are caused by inflammation.
