4-star OL Josh Simmons decommits from Oregon after offer from M

The title was already long enough, so let me start off by saying that it wasn't JUST Michigan that offered leading up to Josh Simmons's decommitment. Simmons is a 4-star, the #16 offensive guard, and #274 overall from La Mesa (CA) Helix. Illinois, Miami, Michigan, and Penn State all offered him over the span of a few days, and he backed out of his commitment last night, the same day Michigan came through with an offer.

For those of you wondering where the DT recruiting is: Watching Simmons's film, I think he's just as good or better at defensive tackle. (For example, I would take him at DT over in-stater Rayshaun Benny.)

Thanks, Magnus. Always nice to come here and read about football.

On the subject of Rayshaun Benny, is he being recruited by the staff at DT? If so, has there been any word on how the recruitment is going?

I keep seeing OL offers going out.  Is that a bad sign for our chances with Spindler & Dellinger?

It's not really relevant to Dellinger, who is a tackle and is expected to go elsewhere.

As for Spindler, anything could happen. There's a chance Michigan could be hedging their bets, or maybe they just want another guard. The Raheem Anderson situation is iffy. I know Sam Webb has said that Anderson could play guard, but I just don't see that. IMO, he's a center or nothing.

Also, Simmons could be a NT.

Side note related to recruiting, Sam Webb and Brian Dohn just put in crystal balls for Louis Hansen to Michigan.  He's the #8 TE nationally, #187 overall on the composite.

Thanks for posting Magnus.  What would you say our chances are of landing him?  Pulling California kids east is never easy but simply based on the surge of midwestern schools offering it would seem he's given signs he's open to leaving the west coast.
