3 coaches together

Tonight was a great night. The DC chapter of the alumni association hosted Red, Beilein and Rich Rod at an alumni gathering on the roof of a law firm. Bill Martin was there too. Bill mentioned that it was the first time he could remember (or ever heard of) that all 3 coaches were at the same event outside of Ann Arbor. The turnout was amazing and all 3 coaches were available for an hour for pictures and autographs. Then they each gave speeches with Martin introducing them. No joke, Rich Rod had the crowd in tears with his jokes. He had 3 or 4 zingers that were hilarious. He is a great speaker and a really down to earth (seeming) guy. I got tons of video and pictures. We were in the front row during the speech portions. Definitely the highlight was the singing of the victors with all 3 coaches leading. It was surreal. Also, Bill Martin is very humble and you can't walk away from him talking about the football program and Rich Rod without feeling good about our future. His exact words: "Lloyd told me when we were looking for a new coach, if you get Rich Rodriguez, you'll get the best young coach in the country".

I was there too. It was a great event. I liked how Coach Rod pointed out that this year everyone has bought in. He qualified the statement by saying that last year they bought in but they still had questions. This year we're all in!

been a common theme from player interviews, eg. Steven Threet: "They need to make sure that everyone is putting the work in to getting better at executing their job. There were a lot of times last year where maybe one guy didn’t do his job at 100 percent, and that’s the difference between a touchdown and a three-yard loss. Working together like that is especially important offensively. Defensively, you can get bailed out sometimes, but offensively it really does take all 11 guys." http://www.michigandaily.com/content/football/threet-talks

But my dad went to that Academic College Football HOF outing in NYC at the St. Regis Hotel earlier this year. He said people applauded after each football coach in attendance was announced. He then said when Rich Rodriguez' name was called, there was complete silence followed by some chuckles. Did anyone else hear about this? I couldn't find a write-up of this anywhere. I also assumed my dad was exaggerating/playing around, but he told me repeatedly that he wasn't.
