2plankr, please change your topic; you're inducing extra panic
The NCAA has cleared Ohio of additional allegations on one specific instance that they're investigating: Tatgate. The cars, the golf, etc, etc, are not a part of this. Besides that, they're still a repeat offender and their punishment has not been handed out yet.
Panic less, describe more.
WOOT!
Haven't the slightest, but that's not part of what was released today. This isn't the end of their troubles, surely, and that subject line has everyone (including myself until I read the article) running in circles screaming "BULLLLLSHIIIIIT"
You can't be a pimp and a prostitute too
that Jim Tressel killed five hookers in Columbus.
Maybe it was Craig James. But someone has to pay.
Let's not go around telling people that Craig James killed five hookers. After all, we don't have conclusive evidence that Craig James killed five hookers. So, any beliefs that Craig James killed five hookers should be kept to yourself.
There's no proof tha Craig James killed five hookers recently. None. Even if Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU, there's still no proof of that, either. None. So maybe we should stop mentioning the topic of CRAIG JAMES KILLED FIVE HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU. A simple Google search should squash the rumors that CRAIG JAMES KILLED FIVE HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU.
I thought the NCAA wasn't making a ruling until mid-August? Something seems really off with the timing of this report and the other paper's report that Tressel notified someone in December.
August 12, I believe.
I'm glad someone finally said it. This definitely isn't the end. Relax everyone.
Heard Tressel was a bag man.
What about the stuff found in the Si article that is related to tattoos and the tattoo parlor? Will that be treated separately as well?
From the Dispatch article:
The NCAA also reported that it investigated a Sports Illustrated report that identified nine additional players as selling OSU memorabilia to tattoo-parlor owner Edward Rife and interviewed the athletes, but confirmed only one as dealing with the man who is soon to be sentenced on marijuana-trafficking charges.

Odd that the Dispatch has a link to the Tressel transcript but not to the NCAA's letter. It'd be nice to know exactly what the NCAA said, instead of relying on the newspaper's interpretation.
On second look, maybe it isn't odd: they FOIA'd the transcript so of course they would have a copy.
I want to know how circumstantial evidence can be used to sentence a murderer to death; but some on this site are saying the NCAA needs "a paper trail" or what they call "proof"; as if circumstantial evidence cannot constitue enough proof to result in an NCAA finding to take away scholarships and bowl participation from an obviously blatant abuser.
I will be surprised if THE Administration of Ohio doesn't get axed into the dustbin of history, etc.
Did you see the Casey Anthony trial? Circumstantial evidence sometimes isn't always enough :-P
I'm not saying let them off the hook or that they are not guilty, but just reminding you that sometimes they need more than that.
But it used to.
When I read the tag line, all I could think of was FACEPALM.
Check out ESPN.com. read the comments under the article. ppl going crazy and hearing isnt until aug.
When are Big Ten media days? I'd bet Fickell catches A LOT of questions on the issue.
We should panic. Looks like postseason ban is out:
"What does this mean for Ohio State? Well, no school has ever received a postseason or television ban without being hit with the 'failure to monitor' charge, and the odds of Ohio State facing such a punishment are now essentially non-existent."
