2021 Opponent Northwestern gets transfer QB

Ryan Hilinski, who started for nearly all of 2019 for South Carolina, will go to Northwestern, who may be starting a transfer for another year. He started 2020 as a backup and only played on two games. Hilinski will likely have three years of eligibility.

After Peyton Ramsey and that kid from Clemson a couple years ago?
Can’t believe they do this instead of recruiting their own. How long has Fitzgerald been there now???

Hilinski isn't a bad QB. For whatever reason, SC kept playing and starting worse QB because he knows the system despite Hilinski was a better QB. The coaching change made it easier for him to transfer to NW.

Looks like a decent QB; we'll see how NW does bringing in yet another transfer QB.

My reaction: "The rich get richer and -- wait LOLWUT?"
On a serious note, I think teams like Northwestern and Indiana will benefit tremendously from the free year of eligibility. Those 2 teams did really well in 2020 thanks to returning production from 2019. (Returning production is one of the key indicators for college teams about how good (or bad) they'll be.) And because of COVID-19, teams like Northwestern will have incredibly experienced teams which will pay off yet again in 2021.

Younger brother of the young man that played for Washington State. I wish him all the best luck at Northwestern!

Yes, for the record, his older brother was in line to be the starter at Wazzu before he ended his life.
