2021 C (football) Raheem Anderson names M to top 11

Detroit (MI) Cass Tech center Raheem Anderson II named Michigan to his top 11 on Monday (LINK).

He's a 4-star, the #3 center, and #211 overall in the 2021 class. Michigan landed Greg Crippen recently to play the center position, but they're still reportedly open to taking Anderson as well. Personally, I think Anderson is strictly a center, whereas Crippen could potentially play guard or center. Sam Webb has said that Anderson could play guard, but I just don't see that as a realistic scenario.

On a side note, the State of Michigan has two of the top twelve centers in the country, Anderson and Harper Woods center Davion Weatherspoon (3-star, #12 C, #874 overall).

With Crippen already in the fold and Michigan also looking to add Rocco Spindler and Drew Kendall on the interior I just don't see how you fit Anderson in this class. I do like his hudl film a lot better than Crippen's however.

MGoBloggers: Have you ever had to interview a prospective employee and, afterward, had to decide whether the competence score offsets the vague toxicity (and signs of subclinical mental illness) you felt during the discussion? I have. I've learned that the competence score needs to be really high to justify the hire. I almost always pass on those types now.

Sometimes it's an easy call! :)

Magnus, care to expand on why you think Anderson could play C but not G? They seem like pretty similar positions outside of the obvious. Could explain why MI grabbed Crippen, as it seems they favor versatility with the OL.

Anderson looks very compact to me. He can handle nose guards and such, but guards (more often) have to deal with taller, longer, heftier guys and/or defensive ends stunting inside. The 6'5" defensive ends running a cross stunt against Anderson (who's probably about 6'2") would probably not end up well for Anderson.

I also don't think Anderson has the frame to carry a ton of weight well.
