2015 NCAAF - Scouting Michigan State [Every snap, every game]

Submitted by MGoArchive on

Torrents of Michigan State's games thus far, offensive/defense/special teams every snap videos. Not all the special team cut ups are done, I'll bump the post when I complete it. People doing scouting/advanced metrics might find these helpful.

Please help each other if you don't know how to open the .torrent file or play the .ts file (uTorrent will open the file, VLC will play it. Google both terms). Someone may or may not upload these to YouTube (by all means, go for it).

find here, wanted a to begin a rational discussion on the elements of this weeks game

What worries me most about MSU is their passing offense. We have not seen something of their caliber yet. Their receiers make tough catches as evidenced by last night at Rutgers.  Burbridge, Shelton and Arnett (and Price when not hurt) are all solid to great receivers. Cook (when he has time) gives his receivers chances to make plays on the ball and they often do.

We've been burnt on crossing routes and quick slants especially this year (which happens in man to man coverage).  Obviously if we get to the quarterback, that is what can help take away the downfield stuff, but the slants/quick throws will make it absoultely critical that our LBs ball out this week.  With Ross out in the first half, I am nervous (is Allen Gant gonna step up?) about our coverage in this area of the field.  This match up will determine the game IMO.

Factors in this are Conklin, Allen and Kieler (spelling?) playing as well as Price.  Connor cook even looked a bit brusied last night.  I know whoever runs for more yards win, but i think this short passing success/failure will open or close up the run game for MSU.

We have the equal to better RBs, the better Run D (especially from what I saw last night), the better secondary and as good an O line with how many injuries they have.  Special teams is not even close as we have a massive advantage there as well.

Thoughts?

With Peppers on the field for every snap, not having Ross just means Joe Bolden will have to hold things down until the third quarter begins. Things could be a lot worse than they are, though I do expect MSU to try to test both RJS and Bolden frequently in the first half.

The D must get pressure and hits on Cook. They will not run effectively against this defense. A win/loss will simply come down to their passing offense against our passing defense. Their D is not elite this year. I think JH and company will find ways to put points on the board.

Added every snap special teams for Oregon, Air Force, and Purdue.

I think they gave up a TD on a punt return against Oregon.
