2009

I've been an avid reader of this Blog since last November as I read this blog daily. I appreciate all of the hard work that Brian puts into this blog and the information I read here allows me to be a better educated fan. One thing that has struck me this year is the loyalty of the Michigan fan base. I have watched every game this year, even though some were painful to watch until the end (e.g. tOSU game today). I do this because I love this team, I love this University, and I love what it stands for. Even when we lose I am still proud of our kids and I know they give 100% each and every game. With that said, I am ready for a new chapter in the Michigan football story to unfold. I am very optimistic and think we will have a decent (not great) year in 2009 and this will be a stepping stone for things to come. 8-4 or 9-3 are records are very attainable. We have a great core of young players, some dynamic freshman QB's coming in next year (if Forcier can enroll in December I truly believe he will start next year), and I think all of the bad luck is behind us. Look at the injuries we've had this year and the number of turnovers -that can't possibly repeat next year! I still believe RichRod was a great hire and I think sometimes you have to take a few steps back in order to move forward. So to all of the other Michigan fans who read this Blog, stay positive, stay supportive of our team, and remember tomorrow is a new day. Let's sit back and enjoy the rest of the recruiting process and watch RichRod use his snake oil to land some great recruits (Campbell, Jenkins?). Have a great off season and I can't wait for the end of August, 2009 to get here!

It was a difficult year to stomach, but Rich has my full support in turning this this around. I've got doubts about his game management and play calling after this year, but I don't honestly know enough to determine what of our repeated failures this year are coaching or personnel-related. Not really fair to be critical when the cupboard was so bare. All I can muster today is GODDAMMIT I wanna see Rich grab Tressel by the scruff and shove his fucking head underwater again and again until he's 7-7 vs. Michigan. I am fucking sick of losing to Ohio State. This HAS to turn around.

Things will get better. Look at the talent tOSU has and they were averaging 333 yards per game going into the game today - 10th in the Big10 (we all know who is number 11...). RichRod has proven to do more with less throughout his career and with the Michigan brand and facilities will have in the next year or two I think things will be turned around soon as he will have no problem recruiting athletes to A2. I too hate losing to Ohio State, and I hate Jim Tressel. Thank god he had a heavy coat on today so we did not have to see that fucking sweater vest / tie combo.

lookout in 2010! A lot of prime time recruits are looking at the Maize & Blue (we've already landed Miller and Jackson). This team is going to be good, it doesn't happen overnight. RichRod got left with a fairly empty cupboard on offense between graduating players, draft defectors, transfers, and inexperience. Rome wasn't built overnight. GO BLUE!
