1973 Michigan vs. Ohio St.
In honor of Michigan-OSU week i will start posting a classic game between the Wolverines and the Buckeyes each day. Instead of watching the crap on BTN heres the 1973 game between Bo and Woody. It was the infamous tiebreaker vote that big ten athletic directors voted on sending OSU to the Rose Bowl over Michigan. Enjoy GO BLUE!!! And im not sure why but BEAT OHIO!!!

Same here. That game sparked and fueled my 40 year Michigan obsession.

To this day if that game comes up she just starts cursing.

I believe "Tiebreaker" was BTN's first foray into the realm of sports documentaries, and not only did they choose a great topic, but the documentary itself was very well done, I thought. I imagine most folks on this board have seen it by now, but if you have not, it is recommended viewing not only for the rivalry but for the changes which came as a result of this game.

Unfortunately other than Hokes win with Courtney Avery at the end, not many of the M victories will be in HD.
Looking at the two threads started just reminded me.
Sorry to be so depressing, but it has been so long since M beat ohio convincingly or at all.
Forgot to add, how great it is to see Bo. Honestly, that makes me so happy to be a M fan. Despite the last decade.

I don't need to see it again.

Bo's legendary '69 team was great, but I think this '73 team was either his 2nd or 3rd best UM team of 21 years.
Bo's best: 1985 team with Harbaugh and an incredible D. My senior year at UM when going on the field after a game didn't require printing off an e-mail and showing it to the security guard.
2nd best? - either this '73 team or the '80 team that ended the year going 5.5 games without giving up a TD and only 9 pts in 22 quarters.
Remember my dad about ready to go postal after we got voted out by Sparty - all the more reason the NEXT UM coach needs to make Mark bow in homage after we spank his hide in Least Lansing in '16.

I'm partial to the 1976 team. 5 shutouts, including 22-0 over OSU. Plus, Rob Lytle was a beast.
Damn Purdue spoiled the perfect regular season.

The '76 team was awesome. Rob Lytle, "...oh Russell Davis..." (Bob Ufer). Jim Smith, Calvin O'Neal, Mark Donahue, Harlan Hucklebey, Ricky Leach. They dismantled Ohio State - zero zero at the half and Michigan just manhandled them in the second half. Two point extra point added to the fun.
I was at that infamous Purdue game - Jim Smith (our All American receiver) dropped a wide open touchdown pass... Michigan still moved down the field for the game winning field goal, and Bob Wood missed the kick. Ufer's replay (I heard it later) was classic - "...the kick is up and it's good - -It's no good, no good, no good..." (sounded like he was dying...).

It's time for Michigan to hire an elite coach again and support him this time. There are plenty of good players on this team; Brady Hoke will be classy on the way out the door and tell them to stay at least through spring ball and give the new coaching staff a chance.
Sparty must fall the next three years, thus restoring order to the rivalry.
