1942 Berlin??

Brian took my Big Will=Bust post down?? I thought there was some good banter going on there. The headline was a little dramatic sure, but I wanted to get a response. The post raised some questions Sam Webb and ESPN had offered before the game..I saw those same questions. From the 10 plays I saw him do I know..no idea. Just asking on a dead Sat. Sorry if I killed the party. Come on Bri no negative views?? Are you Hitler?? Oh well

Come on let's not get our panties in a bunch. No jokes on the internet?? A historical reference is not tolerated..who really gets offended....The recruiting services all agreed on R. Mundy and Justin Zwick and .a..and..and...and..and..I didn't make and idiotic statment or a guarantee.. I'd asked if anyone saw how terrible he was today and was it a concern. It probably meant nothing, but jeez we can't question a recruits status. How many guys come on here with "he is a 3 star?? no way I saw his video tape and he should be a high 4 for sure"..come on.. let's ban Sam Webb as well he said his ceiling is much higher as an OT vs DT from the scouts he has talked to as well as his own observations as well as ESPN who doesn't think much of him as a DT. For the record...I think Will Campbell will be a very good DT in 2 years for the Michigan Wolverines. I love Michigan Football and will never doubt a recruit again...unless he considers transferring or decommits at which point I will blend in when I question his talent....by the way didn't Brian write in Livefeed "A. Murray looked retarded" which prompted discussion why he was ranked so high?

"The headline was a little dramatic sure, but I wanted to get a response." I guarantee that's why it got deleted, plus a little for general stupidity. Writing "shock" headlines to get a response is no better than Sharp and his friends writing ridiculous opinions to get page hits. It's lazy. If your view can't stand on its own without a crazy headline or stupid shock viewpoint, maybe you should reconsider posting it. Or get a Scout membership.

I wrote Big Will looked quite sluggish and even maybe a little lazy during the live blog. It did not get posted, and then I thought about it. He is going against the best, he is having fun(not taking it too serious), playing both ways, a star and is treated like one. All of those factors made him look not 5*ish today. In fact there were times when I thought he was flat out pathetic looking. I just chalked it up to youth. I will still be very happy to see him in blue and am sure he will grow into a great player at UofM. I have to admit, comparing Brian to Hitler is not a good idea. But I get what you are saying.

Is Stalin better?? Have to say I must be thick skinned or missing something that historical refernces upset people. Is Brian really upset about a guy calling him Hitler?? I think I've read Brian's blog enough to know he's not losing any sleep about it. Which is why I posted the follow up I thought it extreme for a post that did have some good reply posts and a few people with the same observations. As for the title..it was Bust?? hardly a definitive harsh statement. Now "Will Campell is a large turd" would have been a flame...I needed to distinguish it from the other thought provoking posts asking what word you said when Will committed and Yeah he's Blue...

"I needed to distinguish it from the other thought provoking posts asking what word you said when Will committed and Yeah he's Blue" Don't get me wrong - those posts sucked too. Also, invoking Hitler means you lose, automatically, per Godwin's Law.

Im lumped into the idiotic masses with Goodwin.. I fall on my sword...though it does fit with the whole free speech thing so that and total consciousness on my death bed I got going in my favor so thats a good thing. Dam and I always liked Stalin better should have stuck with Stalin.

When you call someone "Hitler", the first thing that comes to mind isn't that they are quashing free-speech. It's more the murder of 12 million people. Seeing as Brian has killed like 4 people, tops, it's just stupid. That's why Hitler comparisons never work - it's virtually impossible for it to be absurd hyperbole.

We have a history and propensity of recruiting or attracting underperforming DT's at Michigan. Why - I don't know. When you are so physically imposing maybe there is no need to maximally try. I am going to chalk up his performance to a cross between relevance and general lack of interest. Will pretty much plays when he wants to play. It is part of his nature and his personality. In college I suspect you will see him dominate in big games and disappear in irrelevant ones. He will learn technique and balance and those types of things, but the fire and aggressiveness is just something you have that is part of your nature. There is no anger really in the way Will plays unless it is a challenge. He really is a big goofy kid - he was that way when I met him, and I think that is how he will always remain. More professional with time, but enjoying his life. Trust me - you won't think he is a bust when you seem him dominate OSU - you will only be perturbed when he does his best Gabe Watson against Northwestern. Unsure why Brian chose to sanction you other than for insipid douchebaggery. That being said - I didn't see your original post, so it is hard for me to determine the level of douchebaggedness your post may provide. We need the Chonga to do a Will Campbell montage with Get Jiggy With It playing in the background - it might put the blog balance back in place

There was a post a couple weeks ago (can't remember the topic) that got pretty incendiary and was removed. I think Brian's spidey senses were getting a little tingly based on some seriously negative reaction. He probably deleted it before it spun too out of control. Just a guess, though.

Sleep and Route you may be next to get wiped out for being negative..just don't use that guy from way back that was mean and you should be ok...we'll call him chipmunk. As for negative 1 loss to Wisky and the bandwagon is flipped over on the side of the road..come on guys give Beilein some room. I think we're still gonna make it. Stay Positive Cup Half Full

First, are you really going to judge the guy on the All-America game? A question - Who won? Answer - Who freaking cares! I doubt any of the players did. The game was to have a little fun, (and to make some money which none of the kids saw). Will appeared to have his share of fun. Good for him! He should enjoy every second. The point here is that he is coming to Michigan. On Monday or Wednesday or whenever classes start I will be in a meeting or in my office. You may be at work, or in class or sleeping. Will Campbell will be in a gym with Barwis screaming at him. He will be there so he can, one day, crush a Buckeye QB in front of our eyes. Let's let Will goof around for awhile. You don't get to be a 5* if you don't know when to be serious. Second, calling someone Hitler or Satlin is bush league. Period. Those guys did a bit more than censor people, no? I think people will listen if you want to complain b/c you offered a view point that didn't get a fair shake. But leveling that kind insult on the guy who hosts our conversations is just too much. When you level that kind of comparison it makes it hard to argree with you.

You know - I agree. I am happy he is a cyborg Wolverine robot from the future brought to crush mere mortal Buckeye quarterbacks here on earth. And frankly, I laughed my ass off once he started doing that dance when the host said, "your dad things he's Big Will" and then Will started showing off the guns. That guy is going to be a blast to watch for the next four years. And I guarantee you there are going to a be few rich alumni donating just because he committed ( me in that mix). A lot of us needed to see that show of faith from a legitimate in state talent (well I didn't - I believe Rich was a great hire, and will go down as one of the best coaches Michigan has ever hired but there have been a lot of alumni that are really grumbling behind the scenes - it is ugly). He is a great kid, from a great family and I am psyched he is blue. He always was but even I got worried right at the end when he went for the LSU hat. Uggh - off to sleep. Awaiting video patiently - the chonga will deliver no doubt.

"As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one." In this case, Nazis/Hitler was mentioned in the opening post. Quite an accomplishment under Godwin's Rule. I prefer the Jon Stewart commentary on argumentum ad Nazium or argumentum ad Hitlerum when demonizing someone: "When you compare people to Hitler, you lose a little credibility. Besides, there are more civil ways of voicing disagreement; to take the rhetoric down a notch ... "Please stop calling people Hitler when you disagree with them. It demeans you. It demeans your opponent. And to be honest, it demeans Hitler. That guy worked too many years, too hard, to be that evil, to have any Tom, Dick and Harry come along and say "hey, your being Hitler". No. You know who was Hitler? HITLER! ... "You use a Hitler reference, and it makes you look crazy." The actual clip was obviously meant to be more humorous being the Daily Show and all, but there is some truth to the commentary.

Some others looked bad in this game as well years past (Reggie Bush) and had great college careers. I think he was more concerned with the hype than the game. By next fall he will be ready.

I watched the game after I had DVR'd it, so I had the liberty to rewind any play that involved Campbell, Turner , Gallon, etc. I thought Big Will looked lazy out there. There were some plays where he just stood up and didn't even rush (or drop into coverage). But it was an All-Star game though. Who cares? This game is a reward for these kids, and is about having fun. Don't read too much into it.

You DVR'd and saw what I saw just posing a question. Isn't that what we do?? Take the smallish news or sample and extrapolate out..for Atiila the Hun's sake we got depth charts out there for 2010. Why else are we on a Michigan Football website 2 months after the season is over?? I was hoping to hear from people in the know who knew him better or saw him live this season for a better scouting report. I went back and looked at ESPN's Scouting report for him and it mirrored yesterdays game...take a look if you get the chance.

As others have noted, there are more appropriate forums for randomly deciding Will Campbell is going to be a bust based on nothing. The original post was stupid and designed to be controversial, so it goes away.

So when on the live blog everyone suggested Lane Kiffin was retarded for dumping Tahj Boyd after he threw a few passes.. that was smart?? Or when after watching Beaver play a few snapson ESPN he was going to play behind Forcier. What's the difference??? Why will no one address the thoughts from GBW or ESPN that he may have some things to work on. It's not like I'm the 1st guy to bring it up or I'm just saying something stupid like C. Woodson is overrated to get people to post. Diff sites have differing opinions on Will I wanted to know what people think.

Ok, let's be reallllll simple about this. Probably ok to post: Headline : What can Campbell do to improve? Body: Random dipshit observation about his ability or work ethic or something Stupid to post: Headline: ZOMG CAMPBELL = BUST Body: IS CAMPBELL A BUST OMG OMG OMG OMG?

The real problem with a gifted kid like "Big Will" is developing a work ethic. They are so use to being naturally bigger, stronger, and faster then anyone they played against in high school. But when they come in the fall and they are just a number, they have to learn how to properly work out. This coupled with the new freedom of being away from home some don't show any progress for a few years. And Will looked like he was more about the camera than the game. I don't know him so I don't know his work ethic and the AA game is like the Pro Bowl. Some play hard and others like the vacation.

I apologize for using Big Will is Bust Headline that totally submarined any attempt to get a discussion going about ESPN's concerns or GBW's thoughts that no ne addressed on their way to jumping on me about ?? and adjectives. Brian please shut the post down and we'll all hope for the best. My apologies to Brian, Big Will and all of Hitler's and Stalin's relatives. Done
