You asked for a pump up...
In a large booming voice from the sky:
"Band, Take the field!!"
The greatest marching band in history pours out of the tunnel at 220 bpm, eventually folding out into the fanfare M
The band moves up and down the field, playing The Victors, Varsity, and The Yellow and Blue
In the north endzone, the drum major does his famous back bend to rile up the students even more
109,901 (or is it 115k?) rise as one, cheering on as the band returns to midfield, and forms up for the entrance of the team
A hush comes over the crowd, it is all of a sudden very dusty, as Brock Mealer makes his way out from the tunnel... a hush erupting into a roar as 109,901+ Cheer on his immeasurable spirit
109,901 Cheering, ready, ready for another year, football is back at last... It's happened before, it will happen again, but never quite like this. The rededication. Brock, Our readiness to avenge games from years past... the Victors blares from the band and the team storms the field, hitting the banner, and ready to make us all proud

Thanks for that.
I'll be hearing the band in my head for the rest of the day... Like having a built-in MP3 player but better.

are now on continuous loop on my iPhone.

...but I recommend that you add the flyovers. A flight of B-25s during the Rededication Ceremony (presumably before "Band Take the Field"?) and and a flight of A-10s during the playing of the national anthem.

...fill in the blanks somewhat:
MVictors Sat. pregame: get in your seats about 20-30 minutes prior to game. Stadium history video, ribbon cutting midfield, Brock leads team out
I believe that the B-25 flyover will occur sometime during this portion of the pre-game (before the video, after the video, or after the ribbon cutting).

I rarely create content... as unlike Brian I'm an engineer who engineers, and who can't write. This has been playing over and over through my head for a while and I thought with the angst and worry abounding we could all use the mental image of the pregame festivities.
August 30th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
...that you did a great job doing it. Much appreciated. I almost feel like I'm there again.

how the band can run onto the field high-stepping in hot, humid 85 degree weather while playing an instrument.
Cant' wait...
Go Blue!

but including a picture of Lloyd Carr running under the banner sort of ruined it.
August 30th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
I think you mean Llllllloyd Carr. amiright?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Damn you Carr!

I'm guessing ABC's gonna pick this up about, ooooohh, somewhere between 2 mins before, and anywhere up to 2 minutes after kickoff, and unfortunate me, who cannot attend, will sit on my couch and cry because I will miss all these great and historic festivities.
Booo. Sad panda is saaaaaaaaad.
August 30th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing. Is there going to be a live stream anywhere that I could watch from home since ABC will not cover any of this?
August 30th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
I was wondering when they wil show the game and if they will show Brock, I'm in the same boat as you as I cannot attend. Boooo Fucking Hooo for me

Double Post

does have a pregame show sheduled, I'd imagine that's where they'd show Brock and the team entering the stadium... seriously with a story like that how could they not... from their prospective (not mine... I have a soul) this story is pure gold... I'm surprised they aren't advertising about it right now.

i have to say, despite my supreme hate for michigan, the banner thing is really cool

I have to cringe and grit my teeth, but I acknowledge that Script Ohio is pretty damn cool, too. Here's to the best rivalry in sports.

But don't forget we were the first to do the script Ohio.
Another layer in the greatest rivalry in sports

I thought this thread would have a different, more porn-y, meaning...
August 30th, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
I'm really hoping ABC shows Michigan coming out of the tunnel especially with Brock leading the charge. They showed them come out of the tunnel last year so I don't see why this year would be any different.
August 30th, 2010 at 7:12 PM ^
Yes.
Thank god for Michigan Football Saturdays.

Really liked this thread, M band is one of those constants, that appear every fall, and lets one know that all is in balance with the universe. 70's memories, yes, this dates me. Standing in the student section watching the band "take the field". Hearing the drum rhythm, waiting for the first strains of M fanfare, catching faint whifts of cigarettes or somebody's obnoxious stogie, thinking, how could it get any more perfect, other than wishing the guy next to me who smuggled a flask of some adult beverage would share, or that I had remembered to take a leak before occupying that seat in the middle of the row....committed and no leaving now.

I swear they better show Brock walking out of that tunnel and the stadium re-dedication. Just a couple more days guys...can't wait.
