Game Day Weather

It'll be another weekend with some cooler weather - perfect to break out some flannel like our friend, Paul, who will be staying at home for another year! What you want to leave at home is the cute shoes! After some rain Thursday and Friday, and another chance at rain Saturday, it'll be a bit muddy. Also if you're going to say Rick's to celebrate, well, it's Rick's. A low pressure system moving through the region to the east and then south of us will bring the chance for a few showers throughout the day and into the evening. Temperatures will be on the cooler side with a breeze, so you might want to grab the warmer hat and jacket if you're going to this night game. Let's go blue!

If you're traveling to East Lansing...

Tailgating

Are you up early grabbing those last few items you need for the party? We'll start off Saturday in the low 40s with a WNW wind around 5-7mph (leaves rustle every so often). The sun will come up at 7:59am and we'll see some of it between some clouds, making for a pretty great sunrise for some neighborhoods! There's a chance of running into a stray shower or drizzle but most will be on the drier side. We'll continue to see some sun through the clouds, and a slight rain chance, throughout the morning, warming to the upper 40s by lunchtime. Through the afternoon temperatures will make it to around 50 degrees. Winds will be out of the NW near 10mph - enough to make you keep the napkins tucked under something so you don't have to go chasing them down. The breeze will also keep it feeling like the low 40s, making this the perfect tailgate to break out the crockpot! As we head into the afternoon you'll notice we see a bit more cloud cover and we'll also introduce the better possibility of rain. Showers will be scattered, so we might get lucky enough to stay dry, but don't be shocked if you catch some raindrops. Temps will be in the upper 40s edging toward game time with winds out of the NW near 10-15mph (loose papers blow about).

Kickoff

With a sunset time of 6:48pm it'll certainly immediately have the feels of a night game by 7:30! 46 to start the game with the chance of a few showers still lingering in the area. We'll still have plenty of clouds in place and the chance for rain will diminish during the first half. Winds will be up around that 10-12mph range and that will have it feeling like the low 40s.

Halftime

Anyone grabbing a hot chocolate? The rain chance will continue to lessen with clouds sticking around. Even as we dry out, that damp feeling in the air just makes it feel chillier, doesn't it? Dropping just a degree or two by mid-game, but with those winds staying up it'll still feel more like 40. Through the second half of the game we'll cool a little more as some of the clouds break apart.

Post-Game

It always feels good to walk out of Spartan stadium with a win, but State's having a tough time this year so try not to rub it in their faces too much :) We're closing in on 40 degrees by the time you're heading for the car and wind chills by then will be in the mid to upper 30s! Winds remain near that 10mph mark throughout the night as we turn partly cloudy. If you're going out in EL, winds chills by the time the lights come on will be in the low to mid 30s. And no, no one is burning any couches for this game lol. Stay safe and warm out there! Let's go blue, bring Paul Bunyan home!!

If you're staying in Ann Arbor... c'mon now, it's an hour away lol. Very similar weather :D

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!
