just gotta take it one step further next year
If you'd told me in February that we'd be national runners up, I'd have been delighted. What a run. Can't wait for more of this next year:
You could’ve told me before the BTT and I’d have been delighted and amazed. Hell, despite being on fire that weekend, I’d have been fairly astounded to learn that after the BTT.
This run felt different than 2013 in a few ways, but one was honestly not thinking we were possibly the best in the country which made it a lot more fun in some ways. By the end of the BTT, we knew we were top ten almost certainly, and knew we could make a deep run; that range makes a FF definitely possible but never an expectation. Unlike 2013, the BTT and NCAA had a certain charmed feeling to it because of that, which I thought made it easier to enjoy.
Or perhaps the enjoyment came from the supreme confidence in Beilein. In 2013, it felt like “if not now, when?”—that it was our big chance even though I thought the run would juice our recruiting more than it did. That was the one year since I came to Michigan in 2000 when we had any kind of shot, and add on the pressure that we had a very good one. In 2018 after seeing the last two years turn into something special, it’s fun to feel that any Beilein team could magically make a run.

I told you man, playing with matches is dangerous...
but dammit it was a great season and a fantastic run. Villanova was just too much. No shame in that. I'm just sad to say goodbye to my favorite player of the last 4 years. MAAR! God Bless I'll miss him and Robinson. Hardest working kids around.
Go Blue!
Choosing a favorite victory was tough. There were a lot of great candidates. I finally went with Texas A&M as that was just pure fun.
Purdue in the BTT. After coming soooo close in the regular season to finally knocking them off was awesome
Michigan state at Breslin. I was expecting a blowout the other way.
I went with Michigan State at MSG. I'm definintely biased because I was there in person, but that was a lot of fun.
I almost went with that one because it was so great to prove to them that it wasn’t a fluke but a double digit win at Breslin was just too good.
2-0 against MSU, Big Ten Tournament title and National Championship runner up...I'll take it.
This season was a ton of fun. We played a completely different style of ball that resulted in a conference championship: defense first, relying on our big man to lead the team, and inconsistant shooting. Hope to see next year we see better shooting numbers. Go Blue, helluva year!
Michigan State #2. The Spartans expected to restore order but by the end of the game reallized the window is closing.
Fantastic to go into their house and rip them a new one.
and that's two days after watching us lose in the Alamodome. Great to be able to win games this year when we weren't very good offensively, and incredible to see the development of Z and Matthews over teh course of the. Please come back Mo!
Really tough to choose a favorite game, as this season fortunately provided a lot. I was very close to picking MSU at Madison Square Garden (great atmosphere and a confirmation of our supremacy), but I'm going to go with FSU, which was a fairly ugly game overall, but brought home a Final Four appearance in front of an unbelievable pro-UM crowd on the other side of the country. The build-up as we inched closer and closer, followed by Duncan's three that just about did it, was amazing. (Of course there was the requisite free throw scariness after that...) The feeling of clinching a trip to the last weekend of the season is indescribable.
What a year, overall.
I like your idea of a survey of fans to get their feelings about the season but I have a hard time with scoring things from 0 to 100. Can I even tell the difference between a 70 and a 71 on this scale? Is the difference between 99 and 100 really the same as the difference between a 50 and a 51? Maybe 0 to 10 would have been easier?
Favorite game for me was FSU since I was there to watch the Maize and Blue faithful take over LA.
I voted a week ago. Are the polls closed?
