WTKA Roundtable 3/23/2023: I Need a Gut Feeling
Things discussed:
- Just me today as Craig's on a plane and Brian's in the Alps.
- Jordan Marshall: Credit to Mike Hart. Also credit to Michigan, since it's hard to find a better fit for a guy who comes from a power offense.
- Ohio recruiting: We walk through the history since the 2000s, has something changed? Yeah, they couldn't show their faces there after 2018.
- The 2024 class: Way ahead of most schools. People being impatient need to look around nationally; NIL and smaller classes because of the portal have suppressed freshman recruiting.
- Jadyn Davis? Sam lays out a gut feeling. Short version is no worries.

You have to love Sam's gut. He is much quieter about it since his "code" lost any sense of mystery.
I am intrigued as he seemed to indicate that a Davis commit would most likely NOT be today - yet we have lots of teases that there will be a commit today.
Anyone care to speculate? I would love to see the newly minted top recruit in Ohio (per 247) CB Aaron Scott jump on today. Maybe Goodwin the WR -- Davis' teammate and M legacy? I would have guessed the legacy OT from TX but apparently he announced plans to go to Clemson's spring game in early April early this week

It's all good vibes right now but after Carr and Moore I will remain worried about QB recruiting until proven otherwise.

Which is better for the Roundtable, two guys kicking ideas back and forth as the conversation develops or 4 guys interrupting each other & disagreeing & agreeing?
Both are better. I loved today's conversation and I love when Brian and Craig are adding their thoughts.

No basketball talk today?
Not gonna lie....sam webb said my name on air when I asked a question and I got a little excited. Also I wish portillo had a coach, I feel like it has been a regression this season and I really want to blame it on that coaching hole. Maybe the law of averages has a rebound in the playoffs? Lets go!
I tried to walk it back but we were out of time. There *IS* a volunteer coach just not a guy on staff, and not a guy like Shields.
We need Jadyn to pull trigger! I would love to know if Michigan gave him a date we start looking around. I'm not sold that is necessary today but man we are nearing that time frame to get someone solid. I figured he'd commit this week sometime if he were going to.
Any chance Dave or Alex will get to sub in when people go missing in the future? They always bring a lot of substance to MGoDiscussion.
This Davis thing is dragging out too long. Even if we miss out on Davis, I think the other Davis (Warren ) is very capable and could start for two years, and then we would probably get Underwood.

Davis is now coming out with a top 5 tomorrow. Often the qb leads the recruitment of the class but it’s apparent that isn’t gonna happen here.

One note....BJ Mack (basketball transfer candidate) is absolutely not a guy who can defend 2-5 like Seth said. Maybe he was mixing him up with someone else. Mack is a ground bound 4 who could play some small ball five. He's a good offensive player and okay rebounder. He isn't a good defender and his team was horrible this year. He can probably defend some conventional 4s but isn't tall or athletic (no dunks all season).
