WTKA Roundtable 2/11/2021: Craig Ross Gets a Library Card
Around Big Ten basketball
- The shutdown, relitigated.
- Illinois thinks Michigan is ducking them, so cute.
- Northwestern is like a Rich Rod first half. Audige is fun though.
- What do you make of Ohio State? Good at getting great centers benched with fouls.
Hockey things:
- Wisconsin dominated Minnesota, could be the favorite in the Big Ten now. Wisconsin had a guy at the Canada World Junior camp who wasn’t there when we played them but is dominating now.
- Michigan dominated Notre Dame, looked poised for a run, is the rapport damaged?
Football things
- Jaden Mangham would be the first Michigan scholarship player from Wylie E. Groves. Like him more on defense.
- Mel Tucker had his brother at Colorado but that guy’s transferring to USF.
- I’ve been to Boulder, Colorado, and I’ve been to East Lansing, and I know which one I’d rather be recruiting to.
- Who benefits most from a move the Ravens defense? Seth: Chris Hinton, because he gets to go one-on-one with guards on the backside. Also the SAM-like players like Ojabo and Harrell.

Michigan could walk out of a plane crash in their practice jerseys and beat Illinois.

And for that matter, what is the difference between recorded, and pre-recorded?

Finally someone else wondered this....

Much as I dislike being contrary with my pal Carl, the apparent similarity hides a distinction.
In normal usage, "prerecorded" signals something that was recorded earlier for the purpose of being played at a particular presentation later.

You must be fun at parties, Blue!

I will never know why I needed to know this, but I have the answer. The distinction exists because there are not two broadcast categories, but three: unrecorded, recorded, and prerecorded.
"Normal" radio broadcasts are unrecorded. They hit the airwaves live and then disappear forever. Certain broadcasts are recorded, so stations and hosts warn their callers that there will be a record of what they say on air. And finally, some broadcasts are prerecorded and played later on air.
Labeling broadcasts as recorded does not capture the difference between live and replayed programs.

I'll bet you and Blue Vet hang out together.

Yo. I hang with the pedants, too.

Those from Wylie E. Groves HS are cute to be celebrating their Michigan signee...of course those of us from Ernest W. Seaholm HS long ago celebrated our M signee (s?).

I'm not familiar with this rivalry, but as a River Rat, I can appreciate the moment you get a kid to sign at the big in state school after your rival always gets the headliners. Carl Tabb, aka the Lloyd Carr memorial run blocking WR package, was a huge deal back in my day.

Tony Boles and Lloyd Carr, baby! Westland John Glenn.
I won't mention NFLers Keshawn Martin and Jeremy Langford although I'm not sure they went to college.

The closest connection I can claim to a famous athlete is that my Phys Ed teacher, Paul Verska, left Huron and later coached Shane Morris at Warren De LA Salle.

Seaholm had the Smokeviches--one went to State and the other Michigan. To be honest I rooted for the Mapes because I wasn't playing for Groves and my brother was strongside guard for Seaholm in 97-98. My dad and I helped pioneer the fan tradition of holding up hats after the national anthem and bringing them down on kickoff.

Hmm, I was actually thinking of Mark Spencer who was an ILB circa 1988...that’s how old I am.

Dodging Illinois? Obviously that's not a thing.
However, Michigan rose in the rankings from #4 to #3 despite not playing games. If we keep not playing games—i.e., dodging everyone—doesn't that logically mean the team will rise to #1?

Seth doesn't add much. But at least he's not Ira.
February 12th, 2021 at 10:11 AM ^
Among other things, Seth has great football Xs and Os knowledge, which brings lots of value from time to time.
For example, when Linguist was hired, he talked through the Xs and Os implications on the defense and how current players and future recruits would fit. He's clearly better on this topic than anyone else on MgoBlog and WTKA.

Well, he doesn't talk down to the people he's talking to and doesn't accuse his boss of emulating a historical proponent of eugenics and anti-miscegenation, so he's got that going for him.

That's two words in one sentence I had to look up. I wonder if that's what it's like for other people when I'm talking about exercise science. :/

Seth is my favorite analyst on this site now, did he hurt you in some way or form? Your comment and his work here dont line up satan
Its clear Brian put more in his plate and he is owning the shit out of it, and approaching all of us with the "high road" mentality. Cant say that for other analysts within MGoBlog community

IL's mad that we won't play them when we might be vulnerable, that's what they're mad about. And. . . who gives a rat's posterior, honestly? I want Warde and Coach Howard to do the right thing by the players. Absolutely okay if that includes some gamesmanship.
