WTKA Roundtable 1/14/2021: Why Bring Negativity Into a Positive Environment?
Wisconsin game discussed:
- The officiating was so good Greg Gard complained his team didn’t get called for enough fouls.
- Wisconsin couldn’t drive with Trice. Thought they could post up Livers with Reuvers and Smith with Davison
- Mike Smith has become a lip-curled defensive Michigan point guard in record time. Could he return?
- Too good to be true? Sam: defense is consistent. Seth: it might be because they have so long between games.
- Who’s the most indispensable player on this team?
- Minnesota preview? Both Gach is not going to beat you. Who do you like in a second matchup: Juwan or Pitino?
Mike Hart/Mike McDaniels/2021 quarterback:
- Have Hart do all the pressers. IU fans despondent.
- Sam: helps recruiting.
- Craig: helps the feels.
- Seth: helps behind the scenes with program guys, HS coaches who’ve been down on the program.
- At least we can take solace in the fact that if Najee Harris was going to bring joy to Michigan fans…
- Possible that Milton transfers but Michigan won’t get a transfer unless they find a guy who can start immediately.
Hockey things discussed:
- Worst 11-3 weekend ever.

Literally everybody on this team could be the most indispensable player on the team.

Justin Fields is #4 all-time in career passer rating. The difference between Fields and Andrew Luck is the same as the difference between Luck and Sean Clifford or Ian Book (Shea Patterson is right below those guys). There is a lot of room for them to fall. Of course, Dwayne Haskins is #7 all-time so they will be expecting a sky-high level of performance. Can Stroud (or whoever starts) be that good? Seth is right that their WR corps is insane so they will be playing on JV mode. Someone please hire Brian Hartline.

I think it's a no brainer that Dickinson is the most indispensable because he's obviously really good and his backups are Davis and Johns.
Franz is probably the best player on the team though. But the reason he's not the most indispensable player, IMO, is that Michigan could start Chaundee in his place and I don't think the overall drop would be as bad as if all of Dickinson's minutes went to Johns and Davis. One could replace Franz with Livers in this paragraph and have a reasonable argument as well.

Mike Smith has a strong argument at being indispensable because the offense isn't nearly as good without him on the court. He is the engine the runs the offense.

Eli Brooks is most indispensable....proven today in Minnesota.

If you watched till the end Craig asks about Xavier Worthy which he apparently wasn't upposed to do. What's going on?

There may be a dispute over whether Michigan is allowing him to enroll early. He may or may not have feelings about this. I'm sure Sam knows the full situation. His reluctance to share suggests something sensitive.
