Nathan Efobi Has Committed to Michigan
Michigan Football has added another piece to its 2023 recruiting class in snaring offensive lineman Nathan Efobi:
Efobi is an intriguing prospect that Michigan has been courting for awhile. He is marketed as an interior offensive lineman (though Michigan thinks he could play tackle) whose evaluations vary wildly based on outlet. 247 has Efobi listed as a low 3*, the #97 IOL in the country. Meanwhile On3 lists Efobi as a bona fide 4*, top 150 in the country at any position and the #10 IOL in the country. Georgia Tech was originally the top school for Efobi before Michigan focused their attention on the prospect, though Miami jumped into the race late, which the Wolverines beat back.
Efobi is now the third offensive lineman Michigan has in the 2023 class, joining 4* prospects Amir Herring (IOL) and Evan Link (OT). Sherrone Moore is looking to add at least one more lineman, preferably at the tackle position. There are several 4* options, all from the west, including Caleb Lomu, Taliafi Ta'ala, and Spencer Fano. Landing any of those three would complete a very solid OL class despite negative press and consternation at times throughout the cycle.
Efobi will get his hello after the regular season ends, likely in a week or two. There is no content after the jump.

I love seeing additions to the OL...the way we play, it is the most important position group on the team

(Hopefully) another year of Keegan/Zinter, followed by El-Hadi/Atteberry/Anderson. Put Efobi in the marinade for a couple seasons and let him cook around 2025. OL/DL depth looks very stocked for the future.

247 guys noted he had played mostly on defense before his senior season, and they expect him to get a rankings boost before it’s all said and done. Sounds like a perfect to roll out fully formed in his third year in the program.

Just win in the trenches, baby.

To what "negative press and consternation at times throughout the cycle" are you referring? The "Harbaugh to the NFL" type of stuff, or has there been something OL recruiting related that I haven't heard about. At any rate, I have faith in Sherrone Moore. Welcome, Nathan!

General recruiting malaise and also striking out on the higher rated targets on OL. Like the part you're referencing, this seems to be rounding into a solid OL class after all.
A highly regarded true OT would be a nice finish though.

if you spend lots of time on recruiting message boards at the subscription sites, there was a point in June when Michigan had 0 OL commits and Sherrone Moore was taking a beating from the posters. Since then he's turned things around quite nicely and this has the chance to be a very good OL crop so long as they stick the landing on the last tackle they need

Welcome to UM Nathan. OL and DL are being stocked up by UM. Bodes well for years to come. UM is already at 21 at 247 for 2023. With a few last month magic we could very well be in our regular range for recruiting. As Alex pointed out, we are doing well after all the NIL and negative recruiting.
On field success goes a long way.

Great addition! I’m glad to see Coach Moore (and previously Warriner) reestablishing M as the place to be for linemen. We had a significant drought after RichRod upended the entire offense. It’s awesome to see such a strong pipeline year after year.
Beat Illinois!

All due respect to Ed Warriner, Coach Moore has taken this group to another level.

Rich who? Need to stop talking about rainy days during sunny and warm weather (metaphorically)

We are lucky to have Nathan Efobi in the class to help continue our streak of being the best OL in the country. Another Joe Moore award is on its way!

Big Man On Campus - coming thru!!!
I love how Michigan Assistants are perennially in the Broyles Award conversation, but no Sherrone??? How about compromise & just re-name it the "Sherrone Moore Award".
Welcome Nathan & Go Blue.

His last name is what I used to yell at my TV when RichRod’s defense was on the field

A Georgia player from South Forsyth! That’s where my future son-in-law went for high school.
