Frank Clark Dismissed From Program Comment Count

Ace

Following the release of very disturbing details of Frank Clark's arrest on charges of domestic violence early Sunday morning, Michigan announced today that Clark is no longer a part of the football program. The full statement from Brady Hoke:

“Frank Clark has been dismissed for violating team rules from the Michigan football program. This is a tragic situation. Our student-athletes will be held accountable when their actions fail to meet the standard we have at Michigan. There is a legal process that will occur and we respect that process.”

This was the only acceptable course of action given the situation. Thoughts go out to the alleged victim and her family.

Hopefully Frank figures himself out and gets his priorities straight. Something like this will more than likely kill his draft stock, seeing as how domestic violence is a huge problem for the NFL right now.

Hopefully the victim is okay and is able to get the proper healing she needs.

Clark should have been kicked off of the team after the laptop incident.  I'm tired of people making excuses for athletes, and I don't care if the arrest and conviction rate for athletes is lower than that for the general population.  The general population is not the appropriate peer group, unless you think people are going to pay hundreds of dollars to sit at a construction site and watch the roofers, or to sit at the mall food court and watch cheer on the fry cooks.  Athletes should be held to a higher standard than the general population, and while I appreciate Coach Hoke not wanting to turn his back on a member of the football family, I don't think these kids are owed a second chance.

Having said that, kudos to Hoke for not giving him a third chance, and good riddance to Mr. Clark.  I hope he learns some very hard lessons from this, and I hope he's put in a place where he will no longer be able to do harm to those around him.

but after reading that Frank threatened and then "shoulder checked" a female hotel employee after the incident puts this deeper than a quick unfortunate decision to strike out at his girlfriend.  Guys got major issues.
