I truly have no idea what will happen in the next few days and i don't think anyone, now not even DB knows! I think we should expect to see RR back at best, if HE doesn't say go F yourself I'm going to greener pastures! Hoke would be a huge mistake and no way we get a NFL guy! Not sure what's going to happen but everyone needs to....shit I dont even know what to say....possibly saddest day in a very long time at Michigan!!! Go Blue

Likewise, I hope everybody steps away form the red buttons this week. Nothing happens. And we can instead start focusing on the upcoming season because it will be a big one.

this is why I ended my subscription to rivals. I can get the exact same content (many times before TheWolverine) and for free. The best benefit of mgoblog, is our fearless leaders' data based analysis. Additionally, neg/pos system provides a nice policing of the board to keep away the trolls.

RR gets some sort of vote of confidence from the brass, a new DC and staff, and convinces Dee Hart to come to AA. Then we can all focus on things like freshman uniform numbers and spring practice. How I loathe the offseason.

Why would Brandon let the University of Michigan twist in the wind for a month without having JH locked up already. Way to big a gamble for a fragile program. He could have retained RR a month ago or hired any other coach in the country a month ago. The only reason to wait would be to allow JH to finish his season. However you don't do that without some agreement in place. I hope this is all rumor and JH ends up in Ann Arbor but DB is starting to look like this job is over his head.

I wouldn't say DB is over his head based on this. It could be that Harbaugh told him he was interested, but not going to discuss any change until after the season. That would fit with the positioning in the media game since and also wouldn't mean that we have Harbaugh locked up. In that case, I'd say DB said exactly the right things over the last month.
If Harbaugh said no in December, then DB should not have played the game he played over the last month of wait til the season is over. In that case he should have confirmed RR would return or announce the firing and commence with coaching search.
If Harbaugh said yes in December but wait until after the Bowls to announce, then we can't really expect that they would break the news immediately after the game or even the next day. If no announcement is made this week, then we might need to worry.

I still think that this is to big a risk to take without an agreement in place. Michigan football is in a fragile place right now and DB had to know a dead month would only make things worse. I evaluate DB just like I evaluate RR. Only results matter. If you can't produce results, you are in over your head. Excuses and process are for academics, results are for winners. DB is a business man and should know this. Hopefully he already has an agreement and is just waiting to make it look more acceptable. However quick timing is important because recruiting matters.

Are you saying, that if DB didn't have JH locked up a month ago, but only had JH express an interest in the job, that in December DB should have either confirmed RR would return or announce a coaching change and go get someone else.
No way. He has to go after Harbaugh with everything he has to offer. He has to respect his wish to wait until after the bowl. He is picking his time and being patient. It is frustrating but gotta wait this one out and reserve judgement on DB's handling of this.
We have gotten burned so many times with coaching searches. Pitino changes his mind the morning of the press conference. Les Miles get's roasted in the media and forced to make a decision.
To me this is about as perfectly played as DB could have done it. He left door open for RR and possibility to get Harbaugh. I just don't think he expected we would have layed such an egg in the bowl game, which from a pressure standpoint essentially closed the door on keeping RR without looking stupid. Had we played a respectible game, Harbaugh offered job, but decides on pro's then DB still looks like he's in control by keeping RR. I think JH has the job if he wants it, RR had the job if JH didn't want it, and now after the bowl; if JH turns us down we may end up in a coaching search again that doesn't seem as exciting if Harbaugh is out of the picture.
