Wifey Weekend

Submitted by BernardC on
Just a public service reminder that the wives/GFs rule the day this weekend. I for one appreciate that the wife is considerate enough to put up with my obsession and even act like she cares when we get a recruit (I remember her watching the Derrick Green commitment press conference from her desk). So come on guys! Let's give them their day and bust our butts this weekend. They are worth it!

out, brother in law to be is getting married Saturday as well. I was originally paranoid it was going to be during the state, PSU or, God forbid, the tOSU game since my fiancée comes from a non sports family. I honest to goodness cheered 5 months ago once I checked the date against the schedule.

I envy u sir, as I just discovered my girlfriend’s father’s wedding is NEXT weekend. Then to add insult to injury, the wedding itself doesn’t even start until 6:30 pm. So the one year we get state as a night game, it now ensures I won’t get to see any of it. Oh and apparently she’s trying to plan a couples trip to cedar point (ugh, Ohio, gross) the same day as the PSU game. I’m still working on a plan to get out of that one. Ideas anyone? Lol

Love these responses. But in all seriousness she’s a good woman, and she does make an attempt to watch the games and understand what’s going on. But true story: she once asked me after we recently got a new puppy “dogs have brains right?” I was a little disturbed by that one lol. Once she asked me that, I kind of gave up on trying to explain things to her like the intricacies of a Don Brown 3-3-5 defense going against Air Force’s triple option attack.

My wife goes to all of the UM games with me. She watches college football when UM has no home game for us to go to. This weekend at her request, we are going to the Youngstown State night game. The stadium is 10 minutes from our home.

The whole family is excited for the weekend. Son's football game in the morning. Sparty beat down in the afternoon. The new Transformer movie for the night that we have patiently waiting to be released. EVERBODY is excited for Saturday. Go Blue!

I, too, will be celebrating Yom Kippor. Awesome timing for the bye week. When Yom Kippor falls on a Saturday, it really makes watching the Michigan game less enjoyable, so having the holiday and bye week line up is great. L'Shana Tova.

wife is nearly as interested as I am in Michigan football so the bye week is a downer for both of us.  I am getting out of town to golf though.  A few rounds to wrap up the season and then the clubs are going to the basement for some time off.

I'm kinda lucky, I will be watching and going to a football game this weekend.  However, it'll be the MSU/Iowa game with my wife.  Her b-day is coming up and she wanted me to put on a tailgate for a MSU game for her and her family.  Happy Wife, Happy Life.  There are worse ways to spend a Saturday.

Fiancee has her bridal shower and bachelorette party Saturday, so I will be free to do as I please all weekend (seeing as how she will likely be in bed all day Sunday).

My one Saturday for the quarter was coincidentally scheduled for the Buckeyes bye week (I live near Columbus). But swapped with a Buckeye friend for our bye week. Pleasure doing business!

The college football schedule all around is very meh this weekend.  So if you're dedicating this Saturday to the wifey, as you say, you're not going miss many noteworthy games.

Probably the biggest games are....

Mississippi State @ Auburn (6:00)

Clemson @ Virginia Tech (8:00)

USC @ Washington State (10:30)

In the Big Ten, we have....

Nebraska @ Illinois (Friday night for some reason)

Northwestern @ Wisconsin (noon)

Maryland @ Minnesota (noon)

Indiana @ Penn State (3:30)

Iowa @ Michigan State (4:00)

Ohio State @ Rutgers (7:30)

Clemson-Virginia Tech looked like it could've been interesting at the beginning of the season, but Clemson's DL is so frickin dominant right now that I have a hard time seeing Tech being able to hang around for very long.

USC-Washington State could be a really good game. One of those great Pac 12 After Dark kind of games where a real shootout is possible.

The only game in the Big Ten this week that could be interesting is Iowa-MSU. How will MSU respond after getting its teeth kicked in last week, and how will Iowa respond after having its collective soul ripped out on the last play? One play away from knocking off two top-5 teams two years in a row. If Iowa comes out flat, then MSU could win.

and i don't mean that as a slight on my mgobride who i am fairly certain could walk on water if challenged to do so.  its just that with the 4 oldest boys playing football and me coaching, and two of the boys playing saturday it'll be business as usual.   farming, school work, football, it all continues whether or not michigan is playing.

now, would someone please link to one of the all-time great, hall of fame OP's about wife day - i think the thread is a good 8-10 yrs old, but it is hysterical.

are celebrating a wedding anniversary this Saturday.  Which means I'll buy her something pretty that I can't afford and she'll do her best to fulfill every depraved fantasy I can come up with.

I'm making a list.

Wife and I are announcing the first grandchild for both sets of parents this Saturday, something both moms have been asking for since our wedding night! So it will definitely be all about my wife this weekend and rightly so.
