Tim Beck to Texas

Submitted by Baldbill on

apparenlty Beck is leaving OSU to take over as the Offensive coordinator and QB coach for Texas and new head coach Tom Herman.

he will be assuming play-calling duties supposedly.

This is what I said was happening Saturday night per Tim Beck's brother and the board slammed me.  Now let's watch my next prediction of JT grad transferring as well to Texas

I didn't slam you fwiw. I think you got slammed because of your lack of an explanation for why you thought that. I think this could totally happen. Barrett always wanted to play for Texas but he was passed over for Tyrone Swoopes (I believe). Whoops.

Was noteworthy because you have been around for a while yet you have so few points. That suggested to me that you don't often post but since you were taking the time to do so you probably had a solid source or at the very least a strong belief you were right. I analyze everything and don't believe in slamming people (I choose to ignore) but I can not say the same for a great many people on this blog. Your insight is appreciated.

Yes, I have always chosen to take the fly on the wall approach and take in information but felt this was too accurate to withhold.  Thank you and I appreicate that. I will continue to post then when I feel it is worth other peoples time and not waste theirs, which I was always afraid of since I see so many do.

They just confirmed their hire of Ryan Day as QB coach. He was under Chip Kelly these past two years in the NFL at SF and PHI as QB coach, and before that he was in college as the OC at BC.

Apparently people like him/think highly of him, but honestly the resume isn't all that impressive. SF had the worst passing offense in the NFL this year. His pinnacle achievement right now is "fixing" Sam Bradford in 2015, but all of Bradford's Philly stats are in line with career averages or slightly below, so I don't see that either.

Even back in his time at BC, in 2013 they had the 114th ranked passing offense and 93rd ranked total offense, and in 2014 it was 124 and 83rd respectively. He's getting credit for making the RB at the time Andre Williams into a Heisman candidate, which I guess he gets some credit as OC. But the offenses were still terrible, and he was also the QB coach at the time and the passing games were horrific. And he's going to be the QB coach at OSU.

To me this hire seems underwhelming. I don't get the excitement around him. But what do I know. OSU is still rumored to be after Wilson/Kelly so if they get one of them Day will probably become irrelevant, and anyone is better than Tim Beck, but I don't think this guy is much better.
