Steve Lorenz on Taco: I think he "will be fine" after next week

Submitted by Bambi on

I know some people may fine this redundant, and it may have been posted in a different injury thread, but this seems to be something fairly substantive and newer than what we've already heard.

247 posted an article about Taco Charlton's tweeting "I'll be back" in reference to his injury (link). In the comments, Lorenz says the following:

"My belief: Charlton will not play next week as a precautionary measure but will be fine after that.

I did not get the impression that Harbaugh was worried about him during his presser yesterday."

Some people may not care and say it's just conjecturing by Lorenz and nothing solid. That may have some validity, but Lorenz is one of the most in tune guys with our team, so I think this is note worthy. Most of the news coming out about Taco has been similar, that people don't think it's too serious, and combined with the fact that he walked off the field under his own power yesterday, I think we may have dodged a bullet.

Now it's time to just wait and see on a final word about Mone's injury.

I heard basically the same thing:
Taco will just be sore and held out next week as precaution...
Plus, Mone injury is sprained MCL... 4/5-ish weeks and then he'll be back

That would be huge if true. Charlton would be ready to go by B1G play, so no issues there.

The Mone news is by far the best part though. 4 weeks gives him a chance to be back by Wisconsin, but even if he misses PSU and Wisconsin I feel like we should be able to beat both. Him being back by MSU is the big one, and if this time line is accurate than not only would he be back before then, but also have some games to get back into game shape.

We may have dodged some big bullets here.

Jeez this board overreacts to everything.

We held Hawaii to 81 yards rushing on 2.2 yards an attempt, and 49 of those yards were by their back up QB scrambling on our backup defense.

The inside of our line did fine and got plenty of push. Especially considering Mone and Hurst weren't playing, and I really didn't see much of Wormley playing inside (or at all) either. The reasons our line wasn't getting push at times was because we were playing true freshman at DT in the second half, of course they're going to struggle there.

This board needs to back the fuck up off the ledge. I've never seen so much bitching and moaning about line play (both offense and defense) in such a thoroughly dominating performance.

FWIW, Chris Balas posted on rivals that the rumor is both will be back by the Wisconsin game. Sounds like Taco could get back sooner. No idea if Mone could as well.
