The problem is that the 3:30 game against Colorado will have lower exposure than the noon game against UCF: the UCF game is on ABC or ESPN, and the 3:30 game is on BTN.
Yes, the afternoon/evening games on ABC and ESPN get better ratings than the noon games on ABC and ESPN. But the BTN is the exact opposite. Nobody watches the 3:30 BTN game, because that's when all of the good games are on the other channels. 3:30 BTN is a "family and friends only" timeslot.
This Colorado game has the absolute worst time slot in terms of "exposure" that Michigan could possibly have.
I agree, there's no way to avoid some lousy scheduling. I'm more commenting on Michigan rarely taking advantage of the prime time spots for bigger games when ABC/ESPN would surely be on board as well as the crowd here who is obsessed with all noon, all the time for reasons like traffic and gardening.
The schedule will never be perfect for everyone, but it can surely be a little more exciting as far as times as well as advantageous for the team.
I think you're overlooking the "If we play day games in the south in early September our players will spontaneously combust" factor.
It's hot in Michigan too in the early Fall, and it's cold later on, which makes it even more inexplicable not to move early season games later in the day. B1G has less opportunity and doesn't use what can be used.
and the Arizona schools nod their heads knowingly...
For as bad as the Big Ten is at this, we have to be the absolute worst. If we're only going to have a couple night games per decade, I don't know why they even bothered putting lights at the big house.

I love noon starts, 3:30 starts, 8:00 starts ANY starts I love anytime Michigan plays and will plan accordingly! Please let this summer get by quickly....
You miss too much of the other televised games.
Play two home night games per season: 1) the home opener, and 2) the most attractive early season (before 16 October) home game.
The rest shall be at Noon.

i must be alone in wishing the games were at any time of OUR choosing and not of tv's
If we're playing shit valley state, let's go with the 11:00 time slot and get it out of the way. If we're playing a decent BIG team i.e. Wisco, PSU, Staee, Iowa, then I'd prefer a 2:30 game on ABC with Brent Musberger(Damn you SEC NETWORK). Night games noooooottt a big fan. That means I have to wait around all day watching watered down spread teams that aren't even from the BIG bc I don't have BTN at my house. Do at my dorm though.
suck, when I'm in Colorado. I go to the alum bar site and things are pretty tame for a game that starts at 10:00am. Worse when I'm overseas for a 3:30 start time. Game begins at 12:30am.
