Preseason Bracketology
CBS has us on the 3 line, the #11 seed overall. I realize that preseason rankings and this sort of thing are fairly worthless, but still, good to be higher than lower. It is odd though that they have us outside their preseason top 25, but #11 in their preseason bracketology.

Odd indeed... maybe they are saying that our current resume (high school recruiting starz) doesn't add up to the others, but they are expecting consistent growth and out-performance throughout the season? They respect our coaching?
Regardless, wake me up when January's over.

you realize with all the great preseason tournaments and challenges that some of the best college ball is played in November and early December right?

their ranking compared with the seeding confirms the belief of many that Michigan will take a little while to gets its bearings and then be very tough to deal with down the stretch.
There is also the hope that we will have some form of alternate uniforms by the BIG tourney and the NCAA tourney without jeep tire marks on them, thereby giving us back the 10 points per game Adidas has taken from us by forcing our players to feel ridiculous while still trying to play with confidence.

I can't shake the feeling that the unis are Adidas' revenge against Michigan for leaving at the end of the season. I wish they didn't have to bother fulfilling the "lame duck" year of the contract or could at least veto the unis.
The only posiitve is that they will be well-equipped to handle trash talk by tournament time due to experience.

then football uniforms would have been godawful yet it's not.

More Disrespect for MSU. a 7 seed! What are the odds that Michigan would potentially play MSU in the tournament? Just seems highly unlikely (even by preseason standards)
November 10th, 2015 at 12:16 PM ^
Pretty unlikely they play MSU in the tournament. The selection committee either has to or attempts to avoid matching teams that previously played each other, at lest in the first couple rounds.

They also have UNC and NC State in that region. A region with two sets of rivals is virtually impossible.

Apparently winning the B1G won't be enough for them so they'll annoint themselves winners of the B12 as well.

Whenever I look at these on CBS, he always puts Michigan much higher than where they should be.
I love the depth on this team, but have an underlying fear that when the game is on the line, there is no one that can put this team on their shoulders and take over. I am a huge fan of LeVert, but I don't think he has that type of alpha mentality.

He had to do it all because Walton was hurt and there's no one to help him out. He led the team in points, assists and rebounds before the injury

Well, him taking over all those stats because the 2nd best player went down doesn't do a great deal with your side of the argument. He did it because there was no one else available.
I get he is a really good player. But I don't see him as that type that you can give the ball and say clear out, get out of the way. Trey Burke in the 2nd half against Kansas and OT, that was someone who is an alpha leader. LeVert thrives off others getting him involved, I don't see him as the main cog who puts a team on his shoulders.
November 10th, 2015 at 1:55 PM ^
Isn't that exactly what you were just looking for? Someone to take over late in a big game because there is nobody else available?
November 10th, 2015 at 4:03 PM ^
He took over because he was basically the only option. I want him to take over when there are multiple options on the team and they look to him to dominate. I don't see that out of him.
Whenever I watch Michigan bball, which I know we all do often, he's a guy that seems more fit to be involved in the flow of the offense, not a guy who creates his own offense. He's not a great shot creator. Don't get me wrong, I love his all-around game, but what concerns me with this team is that there are a bunch of solid players, but no true "great" players. I think Caris is really good, but he's not upper echelon-good.

because what you just described is LeVert taking over the team last season.

to come out on FIRE ...we have a Very good team and I think #3 seed is definitely in the cards..lots of experience back and lets not forget while we lost most of them against the very top teams in the league many were very very close ...we competed well and I think that all pays off this year
