Michigan bar in Tel Aviv

Submitted by winged helmet on
I hate to be the guy starting one of these threads, but.. I'm traveling through Europe and the Middle East and am looking for a Michigan-friendly bar in Tel Aviv to watch the game tonight. I've searched all of the internets high and low, but no luck... There's surprisingly nothing on Facebook, and I can't find an alumni club website for Israel. Any suggestions are appreciated! As they say, L'chaim

I realized I'm supposed to meet up with three prostitutes in the Philippines at the same time as kickoff on Saturday. What should I do? Does anyone know a good way to view the game there?

Mike's Place near the embassy. It's right on the beach and is the only real sports bar in TA (or at least it was). There's also one in Jlem if you're there.

It should have the game and may even have some American beer.

A lot of people have already said Mike's Place. Not a great bar, but it'll get you what you need. I went there for the Tigers Opening Day game v. NYY in 2011, which was great. While there I had an excellent discussion about NoDak hockey. It was a solid night.

Thanks everyone. I had checked the bar locator, and there's surprisingly nothing on it. I was also shocked that I couldn't find any info on an alumni club in Israel. Mike's it is. The bar locator has the potential to be a great resource, but if your location isn't listed, a public forum is needed to obtain an answer. Hence the post. Mods - adding a general Michigan bar thread sticky to the board (that is also viewable on the mobile app) could potentially eliminate these posts.

I've just travelled from Asia thru the Middle East and literally searched for a bar, lounge, dark room hotel or anywhere to catch a football game. It was NFL but had zero luck. As the other guy mentioned, I ended up watching on USTVNOW (ustvnow.com) for free. And was overjoyed at all of the channels available AND the DVR/record option. So I recorded the Mets as I flew from Bahrain to London. Now believe it or not, I'm searching in London (England) for ANY place showing American college football. Sounds easy to the guy that said 'just go downtown (cars and tall buildings) & have the host put on the game..." That's about as narrow minded as thinking there aren't UM fans/alum all around the world. We are everywhere! But we can't create downtowns, bars and hosts in some places that are just happy to have running water & electricity! That being said, I'm stuck in a fully capable & operable city occupied by many ex-pats---but we are all in a RUGBY WORLD CUP, CRICKET & SOCCER matrix!!! The local London UM ualumni club has managed to book one TV in the basement of a bar under the London bridge. Because THATS how the locals feel about our sports! Can only imagine the response one gets in Tel aviv. Apologies my friend for some of the snarky comments posted to your inquiry. WE ARE ALL GOBLUE! If anyone is abroad, your best friend for American TV will become ustvnow.com they're a lifesaver!
