Like others, I keep my hopes for such a thing to take place rather guarded as there is plenty of football yet and there are some interesting games ahead, to be sure. Even at that, however, it is kind of nice to see a few analysts put our name out there, even if it is a bit early. The fine line we walk between reality and fandom, I suppose.

lol. Just a couple of weeks back, there were analysts trying to figure out if both MSU and OSU can get into the playoffs or at least talking about it. Now, they both are not even projected to be in the playoff. This is too soon. If we get to the last game with both M and OSU winning everything they have rest of the way, then we are talking.

I don't think it's ever too early to think Playoffs and National Championship. Speculating about future victories is one of my favorite things to do as a fan! This one game at a time stuff is so damn boring. Leave it for the coaches and let's get ahead of ourselves! Hope springs eternal!
Assuming we win out and are B1G Champs, I think we're probably in. The issue would be whether they pick the B1G Champ or snub it in favor of the champ of another power conference.
I can't imagine the SEC not having a team in the playoffs. If Clemson goes undefeated, they get in. Same for any undefeated conference champ probably. TCU or Baylor are candidates for the Big 12, possibly even OK State???, Utah in the Pac 12, and FSU also. I think all Power 5 champs would have good arguments to get a spot. So which conference would get snubbed? Probably not SEC. Same for Pac 12 IMHO, If the ACC and Big 12 champs are undefeated, we could be in trouble. Also, ND would like to say they deserve a spot...but they don't. Fortunately, the Harbaugh and UM resurgence narrative would really help us out, especially if we continue to steamroll every opponent and the West champ looks decent. I bet Clemson wins out but TCU and Baylor stumble leaving:
SEC Champ - ???
Pac 12 Champ - Utah!
ACC Champ - Clemson
B1G Champ - Harbaughlers
Michigan beats the SEC champ for a rematch with the Utes. Sweet vengeance and a National Title follow, Harbaugh leads us to 20 years of uninterrupted undefeated seasons and National Championships until everyone quits football.
First step on the path? Beat Sparty to a pulp and make him cry. Can't wait! GO BLUE!
