Former UM Hurler Rich Hill Comeback Story
Former Michigan pitcher Rich Hill had a nice, unexpected comeback outing yesterday against Tampa Bay. At one time, Hill was a promising young pitcher -- in 2007 he won 11 games with the Cubs with a 3.92 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP -- however, arm troubles seemingly cost him his career. He bounced around and was finally released before catching on, and pitching well, for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. The Red Sox liked what they saw and signed him for Triple-A Pawtucket. Needing a starter for yesterday's game, the Sox called on Hill, who responded with 7 shutout innings, yielding only one hit and one walk while striking out 10. That is great dedication on his part not to give up on his dream and to continue to pitch wherever he could

Curveball was snapping off well. It was against a AAAA lineup, but 10k/1BB against professional baseball players is a good day's work.

Focus on the moment, never give up...
Not a Red Sox fan, but hope there are more good chapters to come.

It is so hard to make it in any professional sport, but to have serioius injuries to almost end your career and then come back............well hat's off to him.

I always liked Hill.
He had a pretty decent season before his control disappeared; I remember he cried when the Cubs sent him down. He went all the way down to low A and still got shelled.
I never expected him to make it back this far. I'm glad to see he's doing well.
