No article on Michigan State is complete without a prominent video of Harbaugh in the middle
The inferiority complex of the Spartans goes national. Even though the article presents a compelling case in favor of their performance the past several years, the Spartans still can't get beyond the shadow of Michigan.

I can't wait for the day that Michigan is dominant again, MSU has gone back to being MSU, and we no longer have to talk about them.

To be fair, the article is from the NY Times and is actually about MSU's "inferiority complex." The title is, "Michigan State: Fifth in the Nation, Yet Still Second Fiddle to Michigan." That makes it relevant and postworthy in my book.

We've always talked about them. If we didn't have any hated teams to talk about, we'd have nothing to talk about, no one to root against, and nothing to root for. There'd be no good vs. evil.

Of course. But we'll get there again. I'm surprised at the negativity here. It's an article by an impartial, i.e. not the state of Michigan, paper. It's not someone pushing an agenda. It's actually not negative towards Michigan or Michigan State. It doesn't say that Michigan is a mess or that Michigan State is winning the next National Championship. Someone above asked what are we talking about here? We and the article are talking about how dominant we are, winning or no winning, which is the bane of the Spartans' existence. Yes, we'd rather be dominant because of our winning but the fact is, we've done a lot of things right over the years and built a program that people are interested in. Do I personally find humor in it? A little bit, mostly because Dantonio is so dour. It's perfectly karmic, and enjoyable for a rival to watch, given how easily he lets that chip sit on his shoulder.

I read this as "literally no one cares. DISCUSS." As in, discuss how we don't care.

Why so mean to the OP?
I understand that it's past time that Michigan start holding up its end of the rivalry, and I'm eager to see Michigan regain status as big man on the peninsulas. Right now MSU is that, and it sucks for us in the near term. But the fact that the NYTimes ran an article on MSU's resentments toward Michigan (held closely despite them beating Michigan 6 out of 7 tries) is worthy of a post, in my opinion.
The OP's post is not some hypocritical "did you hear that blurb on Valenti's show where he said something mean about Michigan - they're so obsessed with us".* It's the NYTimes!! That's a fairly well-known publication. And it is funny that half of the article focuses on MSU's Michigan-monomania.
*We see too many of those on the board, and those OP's are rightfully degraded.

Actually, it's New York Times reporters who do the talking, as well as Michigan State players, who were more than happy to talk about this with the New York Times reporter.
