SB Polls: Michigan remains #4
The SB Team remained #4 this week dispite losing to a horrible Iowa team at Alumni Field. We are #4 in both polls. Also the first RPI poll of the season was released and we are #4 there too. In some years, the RPI is the best predictor of final seedings and in a couple of years, the RPI was exact match to the final top 8 seeds.
If this year is like others, it looks good for us dispite a few bad loses recently. Remember, the top 8 seeded teams host the Super Regional provided that team win their Regional. The winner of the 8 Super Regionals advance to the World Series in Oklahoma City starting 28MAY.
The RPI Poll: #1 Florida, #2 LSU, #3 Auburn, #4 Michigan and #5 Florida State. For the Big Ten, Minny is #19 , NW is #31 and Nebraska is having a terrible year at #53.
The Coaches Poll: #1 Oregon, #2 LSU, #3 Florida, #4 Michigan, and #5 Alabama
The USA Softball Poll: #1 Oregon, #2 LSU, #3 Florida, #4 Michigan and #5 Oklahoma
Let's give our support to M Softball. Is there a valid reason why we shouldn't be national champs?
Romero is 2 OBP, 5 in BA, T13 HR, and 21 RBI nationally.

I must say, I'm a little surprised by these rankings. I would have thought a loss to someone as bad as Iowa would cost us. I guess the other top teams are getting beat up a little too?

What hurts Michigan is the weak RPIs of its remaining opponents - other Big 10 schools.
Here is the RPIs for week 2:

If you search on Southeastern, you'll see that almost all the teams in that conference are better than all but the top 3 in the Big 10.
What saves Michigan is its pre-season schedule.
And note that Kent State, our other home loss, has a decent RPI - relative to other Big 10 schools.
