Harbaugh Press Conference OPEN Thread / "Harbaugh Day" Afternoon Thread
Thread for the press conference and "Harbaugh Day" pre-Michigan/Illinois basketball game (because I'm sure we'll need another tonight when the recruiting responses start rolling in).

Twitter Recap:
A bit more detail: Harbaugh contract is approximately $5 million for 7 years, with incentives. Clearly, Michigan would like him to stay.

Jim Harbaugh told Hackett he did NOT want to be the highest paid coach in CFB, or even the Big Ten. More concerned with pay for assistants.

Confirmed: Press conference is at noon at Junge Center. Harbaugh will be introduced to fans at halftime of basketball game.

Figured the buzz would be strong with this hiring, but even I am surprised at the reaction of the recruits I have talked to.

Michigan commit Brian Cole said he's expecting Jim Harbaugh to call him at 1:30 today. #UAALLAMERICA

Recruits react. An offered 2016 RB says he wants to commit & an offered 2017 prospect says #Michigan is now leader. https://t.co/VMKLoLmlnA

It'd be so easy for Coach Harbaugh to cut down Michigan for its lack of wins the last couple of years but he defends it at every opportunity

Love him or hate him, Coach Harbaugh speaks from the heart and with such a passion that you have to respect him

I thought I saw him shuffling around prior to the presser starting...but anyway, he'd have nothing to say or ask. He was maintaining until very recently that JH was only using U-M for leverage to get a better NFL deal.
IF he was there, I'm sure he'll emphasize Harbaugh's entrance stumble in his article.

Did I miss it, or did none of the reporters even ask about potential assistant coaches?
December 30th, 2014 at 1:46 PM ^
They asked about staff but didn't mention any of the rumored assistants by name. JH just stated he wanted to find the best possible staff members.

I hate to say this, but it just brings me PURE JOY to hear the pure NaCl saltiness coming out of the Sparties I know. They are trying to throw shade so hard but it's not working. Can't nobody stop our shine right now!

I know he had to mention Coach Carr and Coach Moeller and coach Hanlon because they were all present. And, I know he mentioned Coach Hoke because they are long-time friends. But, did anyone else get the feeling that he deliberately left out coach rrod when he was actually naming the coaches? I'm not saying that he deserved a mention. Personally, I laughed my butt off because I thought that he did it on purpose. But, nobody else said anything about it. Maybe my own animosity was just blinding me.

I really liked his comment, "Everybody who is for us, is for us." I think he was talking about the rift that has been around the football program for a while, even in the late years of Carr. People around the program always gave vocal support when asked but there was the feeling for a long time that there was no true unified base, neither fans nor alums.
Harbaugh changed all that and he has seen it in the tremendous outpouring of support he has received non-stop since this process began. It used to be just because someone said they were "for us", they didn't always mean it.
Now everyone that says they are "for us" means it.
