OT: Women's Soccer BYU vs UNM Girl is CRRRAAZZZZYYY

Here is the video: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4628040&categoryid=null As someone who played soccer for over 10 years I'm appalled by the play of the NMSU player. There is only one sport where her actions should be acceptable: Boxing, MMA and other variants. This is disgraceful.

"Ban this girl..she obsiously has more issues than the Enquirer..so beyond the soccer. "your're not in middle school anynore", Dorothy..if if you want to pick fights go to Oakland, CA or Ohio! you may just get more than you bargained for. Soccer has a higher standard...you're a low-life!" OAKLAND OR OHIO!

If I could count on action like this. But I always wanted to know: How do soccer players know to just lie there when they get the slightest contact? That always bothered me. The woman got her pony-tail pulled. She wasn't shot.

Soccer is definitely the most under-officiated game in the world. The only sure way to draw the one referee's attention is to be super-dramatic about every tiny bit of contact, especially on plays away from the ball. It's responsible for all of the ridiculous flopping and candyass grab-shin-and-roll acting that happens at every level of the game. It works, and consequently they go so far as to emphasize it in practices. Much like MLB and replay, soccer stubbornly refuses to add officials, and the quality of play suffers. Until this is fixed Soccer will continue to be a laughingstock to Americans, whose other major sports usually have 5-6 officials and sometimes instant replay to make sure calls get done right (not that it always works, but at least we try).

I think you are correct about the over exaggerated flopping and the European-esque hand gestures seen after fouls. However, just my e-pinion, I think soccer is a more physically demanding sport than baseball. I don't share the same sentiment when it comes to soccer being a laughing stock.

"However, just my e-pinion, I think soccer is a more physically demanding sport than baseball. I don't share the same sentiment when it comes to soccer being a laughing stock." There is absolutely no doubt about that. Soccer players have to run the length of a football field + 10 yards for 90 minutes with only a 20 minute break (or so) for halftime. Comparatively, every sport, with the exception of basketball and Aussie Rules Football, looks like golf.

At some point it's the coach's responsibility to get a player out of the game when they've become a liability. She had at least 3 fouls that should have drawn an automatic red card and forced New Mexico to be a player down in a competitive game. No excuse for these types of actions, but it should have been clear to the sideline that she was doing the team more harm than good.

Ouch. Apparently I made a very disgusting comment. I am really sorry about that. I was trying to be funny and going for shock value, and I ended up being offensive. Plus it is rather disrespectful toward women and Mormons, the area where the two groups overlap notwithstanding. I am really sorry for upsetting anyone.
