Why not kick the FG when they couldn't punch in after 3 tries from the 1?
Won't dissuade you and I am starting to have 2nd thoughts myself. From 3 wins to 5 wins isn't enough improvement for a program like this. 3 wins to 5 wins is enough improvement for service academies and even that is questionable

I was fine with us going for it there. If you don't get the TD there, you leave the opponent inside its own one-yard line. What is just mind-boggling is that we actually let them go 99 yards after that.

you needed to kick the FG there. You make the FG and you are still in the game.
I liked the call to go for the TD on the 4th and goal earlier in the game - TD there would have iced it.

Call it Lloydball, but I really thought we should have kicked the field goal on 4th and goal earlier given the score. It would have put us up 2 possessions and given us some slight breathing room. I don't disagree with the call, but would have preferred to kick the field goal there. I do, however, disagree with putting in Brown 3 times in a row before Minor or Grady at the 1 yard line - we needed some serious power running there.

The reason you don't kick the FG is that you need 6 yards there. Later in the game, with less time, you could kick up to a 50 yard FG. With the little bit of time left, getting the TD there makes some sense.
