I think he is another great find by the coaches. Dawkins has tremendous upside and it's nice because he doesn't have to make a big contribution off the bat. It's pretty likely too that he'll stay for the full 4 years and help provide more continuity and stability to the program.
Congratulations to him and welcome! Can't wait to see how he fits in, whether it's this coming season or the following one.
Looking at the trend, with Beilein scoring kids of former NBA stars, and the data appears go against your 4 year notion...
Jordan Dumars... transferred, but would not have been drafted, thus four years...
Hardaway Jr..... three years
Glenn Robinson Jr .... two years
Dawkins ???
Sounds to me that he is more likely only to stay THREE years. Not to mention the others...
Stauskas....two years
McGary..... two years
Albrecht.....four years
LeVert...... three years likely.
Welcome to the fold. Awesome news!
he retired from playing basketball because of injuries. I believe that he finished school at UM.
Welcome to Michigan,young man!!
HAIL
I think there was some skepticism about whether Dawkins was really 6-6 as I believe Sam Webb was the first to report. In the U-M press release, Beilein himself calls Dawkins "a full 6-6."
"We feel very fortunate to have Aubrey join our basketball program," said Beilein. "He is very athletic, long, a full 6-6, and has a tremendous upside. We love his passion and diligence for skill development and know he possesses great understanding of the game of basketball. We anticipate his versatility as a player will prove valuable on our team."
The man recruits has a great game plan is just plain getting it done! Go Blue!
