Who will be Ohio State's starting QB for 2024??

I have to admit that my first time ever listening to several of the OSU podcasters was last year after we beat them in Columbus, and man was it a good listen! Since that time I have listened to several of their outlets with some regularity. At present they are convinced that McCord was in large part the problem this year. Most of them are thinking that they are going to be better next year with addition by subtraction with McCord leaving.

They almost all say they only want a 1-year stop-gap type of guy so as not to scare away Air Noland (2024) and Tavien St. Clair (2025). At the outset the 3 names they consistently brought up were Riley Leonard, Cam Ward, and Michael Pratt as fits they would like. Fast forward a bit and now the transfer QB pieces are starting to fall into place nationally (Riley Leonard to ND, Dillon Gabriel to Oregon, Michael Pratt to Senior Bowl) which includes 2 of their "primary" targets. According to most of the recruiting outlets USC, Florida State, and Miami are still looking for help at the QB and have been mentioned as possible landing spots for Ward. Being the OSU QB is obviously attractive, but it doesn't look to be the destination it was even a year removed from CJ Stroud and company.

With all that being said who do you see as the starter for OSU in 2024, and will that person be an upgrade over what McCord was in '23 and would have been in '24?

I'm really not sure what they're going to do. Ward is apparently not looking at them, but his problem is reading defenses, which can't be a good fit for a complex scheme like Ohio State's. It's very possible that their starting QB is currently on the roster, because of the transfer moves already noted by the OP.

I just keep coming back to how terrible it was for Ohio State to lose McCord. Kid learns for another couple of bowl practices and spring ball, and you probably see enough improvement to make things go.

I think you're exactly right about McCord being the best option for 24. He would have the benefit of more time on task and experience is the best teacher. They lost by 6 at our place and if you take away that first pick then it's a whole new ball game. Their loss for real!

I can't believe they are running it back with the same staff. Ryan Day is not a good offensive coordinator and Brian Hartline is a WR coach and recruiter with a coordinator title. I will at least give Hartline his due that he is a heck of a recruiter and talent evaluator. Ryan Day's selection of QB's has been abysmal. The kid from Bellefontaine isn't it. Another whiff. What a mess they are. It's almost unbelievable how fast they fell completely apart without Urban Meyer. They are much closer to becoming the third or fourth best program in the conference then they are to winning it. Everyday Ohio isn't coached by Meyer they get a little worse. Spiraling.

Their QB will be either the guy McCord beat out who doesn’t throw it as well, or the guy from South Dakota who never played, or the incoming true freshman who is good at 7 on 7 football. None of them will ever throw to the greatest receiver in OSU history - who never beat Michigan, which he has in common with the greatest quarterback in OSU history.

The guy they have now, last name Brown. I think that oSU is looking a little scary to people now, with all the transfers. It has people second guessing them as a landing zone.

demetrius brown and michael taylor have no interest in the position despite the opportunity to party for a while in columbus.  beginning to accept the fact that day's days are numbered.
