One of the announcers is a former Michigan captain so I’m pretty sure this isn’t the case. This is just a sad pathetic take.

Lost a well played game to a good team and Michigan got outplayed overall. Good game to learn and grow from. For this team the goal is a National championship and this is a good learning experience

Without knowing anything, did feel like Iowa was the better team and deserved to win, possession wise.  But I know nothing.

Couzen Rick's, maybe make a diary about this sport because we're good at it?

Despite the pathetic conspiracy theorists with no knowledge belly aching a well played game that Michigan lost in the shoot outs. Overall Iowa outplayed Michigan and had significantly more chances but Michigan has the better goalie. Will have to do better with possession and generating chances in the circle if Michigan wants to win a rematch

No conspiracy theory here; even the announcers noted the significant drop-off between the number of penalty shots we average versus the number today (and the disparity to the number of penalty shots that Iowa received).  (The call on the goalie also surprised the announcer, it appeared.)  But yes, most of us know virtually nothing about this sport.  It did seem like the Iowa players were more eager to ask for calls from the refs.  (And we have certainly seen that from certain teams in other sports.)  To those knowledge in field hockey, is that a fair assessment, or is that just my bias?

The announcers certainly didn’t agree with that call but they also said it was a 50-50 call. The disparity in corners was from not controlling the game like they normally do. They also average 19 shots a game and had like 5 today, they just had significantly less of the ball.
