They REALLY don't play school in Columbus

I saw the highlights on ESPN and social media but didn't realize the backstory. It's apparently not even a real school, just a bunch of kids that work out together.

They played a team from Pennsylvania Friday night, then turned around and played IMG last night on national television. And lost 58-0.

No staff, no physical address. Just a charter school/weight room without a charter on file with the Ohio department of education.

They have never masqueraded as such.  They literally used to be called IMG Sports Academy.  They started as a place for elite athletes to train while in high school.  Comparing it to this other place is like apples and oranges.  The other place doesn't even have a physical address.  IMG has an entire campus of classroom buildings and athletic facilities.

Just because they played each other, doesn't make them similar in any stretch of the imagination.

here's how many students attend IMG for anything other than sports:  zero.

here's how many students attend bishop sycamore for anything other than sports:  zero.

the only difference between the two is that one of them has the full weight of the william morris agency behind it, so they get to enjoy the sheen of corporate approval.  if you want to defend IMG as some bastion of academic integrity, go ahead, but i'm calling bullshit.

IMG is just a better-run version of this school, as is the Ypsi Academy and various other football factory schools that exist out there.  It's pretty brazen to include JuCos and have a mailing address be a P.O. box, but honestly when I first heard their name I thought IMG Academy was just where they sent aspiring models before they made it to IMG modeling, so I wouldn't have batted an eye with some random Ohio school either.

I'd bet $100 that the "brain power" behind this literally looked at the Ohio High School football rankings one day and thought: "Hmmm.  Bishop Watterson!  And Sycamore High!  For the name of our school, how about if we just combined the two?"

Thus the school's name was born.  LITERALLY like that.  Their second option was Archbishop Colerain.

I mean, we have some crazy recruiting from the catholic schools down here in Cincy and Cleveland that is dirty as hell, but this was just BS and doesn’t represent Ohio HS football in any way. I was honestly embarrassed as hell watching a minute or two of that game.
