Bowman started on and off for Texas Tech for three years, racking up a whopping 731 attempts in that time. He started off with a strong freshman season, completing 69% of his passes for 8.1 yards per attempt, 17 TDs, and 7 INTs. He got injured in 2019; last year he started eight games, completed 65% of his passes for 6.9 YPA, and fell back to 10 TDs and 7 INTs. He is not mobile: he's got a total of –9 rushing yards.
Bowman will compete with JJ McCarthy, Dan Villari, and Cade McNamara for the starting job. There is no content after the jump.
Bite your tongue! Joe Milton is Cam Newton 2.0!

Texas Tech?
I think there's another pretty good QB from there.
Oh yeah, Mr. Mahomes.
Great addition. Adds much needed talent, experience and depth at QB.

Baker Mayfield started at Texas Tech before transferring to Oklahoma and winning the Heisman. Seems that school has had some success identifying good QBs.

Ok, I give props for finally at least including Dav V's name. I admit that the utter radio silence on the guy would lead you to believe that there is nothing there. Being fair however, Cade was mostly radio silence as well until McCaffrey bailed. As for Milton, happy trails, he had 2.5 years to marinate, develop and step in. I DO NOT believe that it's a coaching prob with Milton beyond the poor decision to give him the keys. His mental processing of the game just isn't there. His touch, not there. I get it, they thought 'maybe' he'd step up once the real thing was there, but I think beyond staged plays in practice, he simply doesn't have 'it'. He may be F'n adonis, but Cade would have been the 'clear' choice this year unless JJ came in and straight up balled out. I think what Cade showed pre-injury was some of the best stuff since late season Jake Ruddock. I'm 'ok' with this kid coming in as a backup and letting McCarthy have the time to adjust, but to me, if he is suddenly competing to start, I just can't feel it's a good sign. Circling back to Dan V for a moment, I would love to hear 'any' kind actual eval about how he's done.

He throws a pretty ball when he steps into it, only thing that concerned me is that even in the highlight film, he looks to shy away from stepping into the pocket.
yeah, thats coachable and this was his true freshman season, but there was a very visible difference in the passes that he stepped into and the ones he tried to aim and backed away from contact (which rarely even came)
could be good for depth and growing as he still has a few years left.

Who is "he?"

Do we have to go through this bitching on every FB post that has to do with offense?
He's a depth guy at worst. That we had to have. Because you have to have three viable QBs in the Big Ten.
I'm Mr. Negative on the offensive side of the ball and even I can see this. Cumong man.

How can you not like this? The Bowman name has done well in the state of Michigan sports world.
It sounds like a good signing. Milton's leaving left M short in the QB room. I have to admit, however, since I didn't recognize the name my first thought was "Good a DT transfer from Texas."
I for one welcome British comedy legend Alan Bowman.
Glad to have some added depth here. Any chance that "Wesley" guy is still around. Looks like about 80% of his throws were to the Tx Tech version of Nico
69% as a freshman, before injured. This is a big pickup.
Given the fragility of our QB’s since 2016, having an experienced starter transfer in is all good. You guys do remember that our 3rd string QB has had to start games and has moved up to 2nd string a few times recently.
