Arizona State President talks trash to Harbaugh
So, apparently the president of Arizona State likes to trash talk. He was on some radio show talking about a potential series with Michigan football and decided to take a jab at Harbaugh. Funny thing though, he gets ripped for it!

I find it really strange that so many outsiders are fixated on Harbaugh's record against OSU. That seems like the strangest smack talk to me, unless you're an OSU fan.

Maybe because it’s beaten into them every year.

Maybe because for most of them, it’s all they’ve got compared to M.

There is something seriously wrong with a guy whose job is to lead a major university and thinks it is appropriate to trash talk the coach of a football team halfway across the country that isn’t even on his team’s schedule. Do your job and STFU. Try to be a classy role model to the 20 year olds on your campus, not just another bigmouth jackass.

So, apparently we are pretty worked up about this. <yawn> Sorry, what were we talking about?

But ASU is the Harvard of the west.
Or is that Phoenix Online?

Would give anything to play ASU’s joke of a schedule. Michigan would go no worse than 11-1 every single year and probably be undefeated every year Utah was at home. Probably would’ve made the playoffs once or twice by now.
ASU would be lucky just to make a bowl game playing in the Big Ten East.

Living in AZ it seems like Crow’s greatest strengths are as a promoter and fundraiser for the university.
Who benefits most if this ploy somehow works ( = Harbaugh is the insecure egomaniac the press makes him out to be) and this series is actually scheduled?
At worst he is getting free pub for ASU due to all the commotion.

You used the word promoter, and it does strike me as a WWE move ..... "Macho Man is scared of me, he won't face me in the ring!!!!" Next thing you know, there's a match scheduled.
Who knows when they'd actually play. ASU is currently booked all the way through 2026. Plus, it seems like a weird opponent for U-M to do a home-and-home with.

Us against the world again.
We should never play ASU ever again... why bother, they are so 'beneath' Michigan.
Go Blue.
Mr. Crow - you are a nobody with certificates.

Football teams adopt the personality of their coach. We all should have seen this coming. Harbaugh wants his team to feel like everyone and everything is against them or spiting them (this is when he's most competitive), then beating them.
Let's hope it works!

A president of a real university is saying these things?

AZ State .... Talking smack from the PAC-12? ?

The same school that hired Bill Frieder before the Maize and Blue cut down the nets in Seattle? Thanks ASU!

Is there a back story here?
Otherwise, what a completely bizarre thing to say out of the blue... even weirder when you're still negotiating the contract.
Poor Herm too... a guy who by all accounts has been a good coach for them and has to cash the checks the president writes by running his mouth.

Very involved ASU alum here. Had the pleasure of having breakfast with President Crow this morning. He's done tremendous things for the university on both the athletic and academic sides.
I would not go as far as to say he's slamming Michigan. Trash talk and facts are different things. Everything he mentioned was based on fact or the desire to beat Jim as head coach instead of player. I see nothing wrong with this.
I hope the schools get this thing scheduled. Growing up a Michigan fan it will hurt like hell to be wearing Maroon and Gold- but I did spend a healthy amount of money going to school there. Plus, I would love to be able to reopen the Herm hiring thread and be an "I told ya so."

Tell him to beat San Diego State first, then he can worry about Harbaugh.
