Are you sure that it's the ads? How do you know?
Most of the ads that I've seen in the last few months have been for Bing and that online game that a lot of people hate. Everybody knows the ads, the ones with the women in skimpy attire. I suppose it's possible that whatever computer you're using (mostly if it's a work machine) sees specific ads for the MMO as indicative that the website is... of an adult nature and thus doesn't allow it.
Alternatively, if you're using some Firefox or IE addon that blocks ads then maybe that has something to do with it.

i thought it might be something else, i use Avant browser...its pretty much firefox but nobody has heard of it, im not sure if its the browser or my anti-virus but its only when 2 of the ads are up....i cant remember which ones but they arent anything bad, i think a clothing company and something else, i just have to wait until the ad cycles out and i can get back on

I never heard of Avant. Is it (wide) open source? Does it do a good job blocking adware (downfield)?

Avant Browser, IIRC, just sits over IE and gives you some added functions. You still get all the benefits of the IE rendering and javascript engines…

get firefox and get the plug in Adblock Plus. It will make it so that ads don't show. Fixes everything. I got it after the last time there was an issue on this site.

as long as you are using the "Make a Donation" button regularly...

No problems here.

I just had this exact problem about 5 minutes ago.
I cleared my cookies and cache and now everything is fine.
Give it a shot.

This used to be a problem last summer, with a couple of specific ads. IIRC Brian got rid of those ads and there was much rejoicing.
I'd shoot him an email about it.

Change your browser and you should be fine. Take your pick:
Google chrome
Firefox
Opera
Safari

I've never had this problem in IE and it may mostly be a wrapper on IE but if IE were the problem I'd guess we'd have heard about it already.

Please email me about the problem and include your browser, version, and a screenshot.

I'd just get Firefox. I've been a loyal Fx user since it was known as Firebird.
