OT: Friday Night Drinking Thread
Depressing game tonight, about to crack open some Oberon and maybe some Canadian Club if my thoughts start wandering to Lidstrom and his contract.
Sports fandom for me now means softball and nothing else until September, which is reason enough for a couple beers tonight.
Cheers, Wings. I know I'm disappointed, but I still love ya.
What's everyone else consuming tonight? I know it's a special day today for a pretty decent chunk of this blog's readership.

Admiral Nelson and coke. I am poor.
Not a baseball fan Justin?

And I actually just got into softball during the past year, so if it were 2010 I'd be done for good until Alabama.

Brutal. I only got into baseball over the last few years. I decided I had to have something to watch over the summer and began to watch the Tigers and enjoyed it.

Wild Turkey rye in an old fashioned while I study for law school exams. Or, while I read mgoblog while I should be studying for law school exams.

I should be studying for my Exercise Phys and Chem exams, I am instead playing Pokemon Red version on my old gameboy color and drinking. Good night...

Did anyone see the nearly half-court buzzer beater by Manny Harris? Hopefully the playing time he is getting now translates to next year.

I'll be watching a little baseball. After the lost today I think it officially starts golf, grilling and fishing for me. And for the first time I now have a favorite nascar driver, Carl Edwards.

36 oz Yuengling. [cracks open can with teeth]

to your native Ohioan ways?

Not everyone has the good taste to relax and blog in black socks, Block M-emblazoned blue workout shorts, and a white cotton T shirt in this state.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:19 PM ^
I should get me some black socks and big-M shorts. On the bright side, I'm on MGB's computer and Miranda Kerr is staring at me in a Victoria's Secret ad. I love Google; cheers to Google.
Yuengling is a PA beer, and was not allowed to be sold in Ohio until this past October.
April 21st, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
It was the part about cracking the can open with his teeth, not drinking Yuengling.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
Yuengling, Hamms and Genessee. Never understood why college students would drink Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors etc over these beers. My fridge always has some Genessee Cream Ale in it...

Not enough tonight after that pathetic series. Wings are in need of some retooling.

What does everyone think about the Winter Classic being at Michigan Stadium. Will that nudge Nick to come back next year. I'm getting this from a youtube interview of the Wings in the Big House and the interviewers asking Nick, Pav, and Kronwall specifically this question.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:46 PM ^
I highly doubt that would have any effect on Nick's decision. My hunch is that he is back for one more year, but it is really a toss-up. It would be a shame for one of the all time greatest defenseman to close out his career in tonight's fashion.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
Thats why I cited where I got the idea. Personally for me that would be a big reason to come back if I were a nhler. Not just because big house but its over 100 grand people. I know he got just about his worth this last year so I wonder if he will take a cut (like Yzerman) to get a big name. All speculation.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:53 PM ^
When you have been around as long and accomplished as much as Lidstrom has, I dont think that one game out of the entire season will be a major factor in your decision, even as cool of a game as this. To you and me it sounds cool, sure, but to Nick Fucking Lidstrom, its no big deal.
April 20th, 2012 at 11:54 PM ^
He wasn't healthy at the end of this year. Lidstrom is one of the few Wings that I would like to see back.

I'm thinking Captain Morgan straight up followed by some icy cold beer chasers.
Thoughts?
April 21st, 2012 at 12:19 AM ^
I skipped the Canadian Club and started off with half a bottle of 13.5% wine, and I'm going back for the other half in a second. In my experience, this is effective.

This song along with 10 rounds with Jose Cuervo are my go to drinking songs.

As long as you can keep it between the navigational beacons. haha Keep it between the bouys. I got it!!
Red wine out of a box over ice--not the most sophisticated, but when the wine's mediocre to start with, chilling (and watering it down) actually makes it more palatable.
What am I drinking? Red Wings fans tear's.
Haha no I'm just messing with you guys. Nothing to be ashamed of. You guys are the greatest NHL dynasty of the last, what...20 years or so? Always in the playoffs and always contending for the Cup.
I'm a Sabres fan. I would have loved to have been eliminated in the first round this year. Beats the hell out of finishing 9th in the East.
cipro and water :(
My drink tonight? Anything available at the "Forget-your-troubles / end-of-year Block Party" on Greenwood Rd just south of campus (personally picked out some Grey Goose and Jack Daniels' Tennessee Honey Whisky) - does anyone older than I remember if Greenwood was still one of the major party streets when they graduated?
April 21st, 2012 at 11:07 AM ^
I'm not much older than you.. I graduated in 2008 and I lived on Greenwood. It was a blast living on that street. The parties were epic. I miss those days.
Had Lost Gold IPA at the bar, but switched to Pearl for the post-bar fire at a buddy's place. Sticking with Pearl at home, watching How I Met Your Mother before bed.
/Texas beer!
/Don't know how to make my post not all italicized!
