Ohio = Cinderella Team?
Yes, according to this guy:
Nate Silver just came out with some interesting probability statistics for the NCAA tournament. Among many things, it shows that Michigan has more favorable matchups in its 4 seed than Georgetown has in number 3 (as many people have already noted).
Here's the thing - in the "second" round (fucking dumb) there are 32 games. Half of them involved 1 and 2 seeds (upsets very unlikely to happen) or 7 and 8 seeds (games that aren't really upsets no matter who wins). That leaves 16 games. Some of those involve teams that most people don't care about, leaving about a dozen games from which to pick "upsets."
Since Ohio is a Mid-Major who has upset a big name school in the recent past, they're going to be a sexy pick here. Not everyone will say them, but if an analysts is picking 2-3 upsets out of a pool of 10-12 games, a good chunk of them will say M - OHIO.
to spell Cinderella in this thread. Raise your hand if you are an engineer. (No offense now, please. I might be one today if had done better in calculus.)
