Two U-M Signees Named Michigan Miss Basketball Finalists
The Free Press reports that two U-M women's basketball signees have been named finalists for the Michigan Miss Basketball award. Congrats to Kelsey Mitchell of Inkster and Madison Ristovski of Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett, who signed LOIs in November as part of Michigan's class of 2012. The winner from among the five finalists will be announced March 12.
Three Wolverines have garnered this award previously: Jenny Ryan (2009), Krista Clement (2003), and Tabitha Pool (2000).

Speaking of Michigan women's bball, does anyone know if they'll make the tourney this year?

They're squarely on the bubble right now. They play at Iowa on Sunday, and a win in that game would get them to 20 wins and likely secure them a berth. If they lose that game, they'll need a deep run in the Big Ten Tournament to get in.

slightly OT, but I just realized yesterday that Michigan's WBB point guard Courtney Boylan's boyfriend is Stu Douglass - like for all 4 years. What made it kinda funny for me was that I'd previously watched the ESPN game day feature with Stu and Zach, where Zach mentioned Stu's girlfriend Courtney; had no idea she also played hoops. Anyways, that's kinda adorable.
(Turns out that former OSU star Evan Turner and current OSU star Samantha Prahalis are also a couple. That's just kinda gross)

Well at the games, we'd always change any "Blue" in any chant to "Stuuu" when Courtney had the ball. I'm not 100% sure she appreciated it but it was fun nonetheless.

It is pretty neat about Stu and Courtney.
I could never really hate Turner though- and I know that sounds weird- but he played hard and was wonderful to watch (minus the fact it meant OSU success). Hard to hate a player like Turner eve nif he plays at OSU.
Glad for the women's bball love on the blog too!

I know Madison and her family personally.... she has a LEGIT chance at owning the Michigan High School record for most points scored.... Scary part: All 3 of the sisters are on the same team at Liggett and the freshman, Lola, has a chance to be the best. Madison is a sick point guard for a girl though!
