Six Zero Oh What a Night Shirt Disappointment

Submitted by mvp on

Did anyone else order the shirt described here?

I LOVE the shirt, but am totally disappointed by the result.  The cool part, in my estimation, is the shadow.  On the shirt, the shadow is too small to really read AND the black almost completely blends into the backround.

What do others think?

[EDIT] To be clear: I LIKE the design of the shirt as shown on-line.  I DON'T LIKE that the actual shirt that arrived in the mail doesn't show up very well.  Trying to get other perspectives on the implementation of the design.

This is what I was originally looking for: some discussion about the result.

I'm not sure what UGP's model/plan is.  I get the sense that they'll set up any design you want, for a price.  In this case, it was a custom design which, I'm sure, has some setup and other costs for them.  I don't know if by promoting it on the site and having a limited run there was some costs savings.  Even so, I don't begrudge them trying to make a buck.

The other thing I'll say is that after recently selling ~20 items on eBay after having not done it for a while, the shipping process can be an expensive pain in the rear for the seller.

HOWEVER, for $30 plus the shipping cost, I think the result should have been better.  I don't know if it is a Six Zero design issue or a UGP production issue.  I don't have any plans to return the shirt, but as M-Wolverine has suggested, I'm likely done ordering through them.

...SixZero made a bad design decision by using a navy colored shirt. That design would have been much better if printed on a white tshirt. Which, leads to my wondering why there isn't more white tshirts?

But yellow or white would have washed out the "lights", and wouldn't really convey the game was at night with the dark background. If it had been the color of the original pic, it would have been fine. Click on link above, and then imagine it not that blue, but the blue of the "MGoElsewhere" list right next to it (not the black header, but around the yellow list).  And maybe even a bit darker.  How does the shadow show up there?

Another thought just crossed my mind...that's why these exclusive, order now (and pay shipping), not in the store things are a bad idea. One, if you had seen it in the store, you could see the final product, and judged for yourself. And 2nd, you could avoid all the extra cost, so you'd be more accepting of it not being perfect for your buck(s).

I was super excited to buy this shirt.

Then I got to the shipping page, and saw that shipping was, at cheapest, $9.  Ummm, yeah.  There is no f*cking way I'll pay $30 for a freaking t-shirt, especially one printed on a $4 Hanes shirt.

Cool design, but gaudily overpriced.

I thought the shipping was a little high, too, but then thought, "What the hell?  It is a cool design and a game from which I'll always be happy to have a momento."  I think that extra cost played a part in my disappointment with the result as well.

Because I don't normally say "thank you sir, may I have another"...but I wanted a memento from the game, wasn't that impressed with the UTL stuff (hate the "naming"), and they were kinda sticking it to you too price-wise, and I like this design, and the score, and the graphic. And though I'd have rather just stopped by the store to pick it up, I bit the bullet because besides the reasons above (to remember the night there), I like SixZero and all he contributes, and figued maybe a little more of the cost was hitting his pocket rather than the ever-more corporate UGP.

But I thought I'd at least show SixZero what we see if he hasn't had a chance to see them yet.

What the human eye see-

And what it looks like with a flash, and the picture enhanced (actually shows up well on the screen on my camera, not so much regular pic file), so you can see it IS there-

Take that for what you will. I'll probably still wear it, and not asking for a refund. It's just a bit of a disappointment.
