OT: Tigers Recall Inge (Commence Leyland Bashing)
Title about says it all... To make room for Inge Tigers sent Andy Dirks (Batting .257 with .730 OPS and 97 OPS+)
The sad thing is Inge hasn't even been tearing it up down in Toldeo. (Batting .287 and 19 RBI in 29 games)
The part that really kills me is we traded for Betemit he is hitting .300+ in a Tigers uniform and now we have three 3B on the roster.

People are making too big of a deal about this. He will get a start here and there (doesn't everybody on the roster). He is a huge defensive upgrade, even if he's not quite what he used to be out there - still significantly better than Betemit and Kelly. Dirks will be back up in September and his ABs were going to go down anyways since we got Young. Not gonna send Maggs down and Kelly can play more spots in the field.

WB is a fine hitter but an absolutely terrible fielder. Truly terrible. Inge, despite his maddening batting, deserves at least a part-time shot. He did well in AAA. So calm down.

Here is my version of this thread done in the spirit of the racist literature my uncle used to send me. It is a simple way to view life, but many people rapturously enjoy their simplicity.
Dirks(white) was sent down to Toledo to make room for the recall of Inge(white) to the Tiger roster. Why the racist tiger management didn't send down Jackson(black) or Ordonez(Venezuelan) instead is beyond me.
Now the favored son Inge(white), will be primarily used as a backup or starter against lefties, subbing for Betemit(Dominican) who replaced Inge(white) on the roster. What was Dombrowski(polish) thinking in replacing Inge(white) with Betemit(Dominican). I must speculate assistant GM Avila(Latino)maybe even(Cuban) is the force behind the move
Next thing you know, god forbid, is the Tigers returning to a Randy Smith(white) type move and bringing back Brad Ausmus(JEW) to do the catching.
Don't even get me started if the Tigers trade for Kuroda(Japanese) or go out and get a guy like the drunkard Shin-Soo Choo(Korean) to become a drinking partner for Cabrera(Venezuelan)

If I am Leyland, I can live with Inge's problematic use of a bat if I can get some good stops at third base in a pennant chase. The other eight guys in the lineup will hopefully be able to pick up the slack.

to believe the other guys can't pick up that slack. We have one of the best offenses in the majors this year. And Betemtic has a problematic use of a bat vs LHP, so Inge is a good decision tonight.

Leyland's rational for not playing Betemit everyday.
"Say you have two third basemen, or any position, in this case third base since it has been such a hot topic; if you have two guys who both hit him, then I play the defensive player. That just makes sense to me; and a lot of times it’s a Catch-22. If you think…For instance if you have Justin Verlander pitching and you think in that game you can get by with (Victor) Martinez, (Jhonny) Peralta, (Miguel) Cabrera, (Brennan) Boesch, and (Austin) Jackson offensively, then with Verlander pitching I would play the better defender. “There’s a lot that goes into it. Betemit has done a nice job and I like Betemit, but I think what people forget is Betemit has never been a regular player. There’s a reason for that, unless Joe Torre and Bobby Cox and Jim Leyland and Trey Hillman, unless we’re all dumb.”

Can I LOL about Inge's 2-2 start while slugging 3.000?

If he doesn't keep up these exact splits, I'm going to call for Leyland's head. /s
