Hoke is an interim coach. We are still waiting for the right hire! Hoke belongs at a MAC or MWC school where his cheer leading is needed. Maybe he should be a D-line coach again... oh wait he coaches the D-line for UM!
Grant made progress with the Union Army by stubbornly pounding away at Lee's army throughout the Wilderness Campaign and beyond. The results were often bloody and heavy with casualties but in the end Grant won due to superior manpower and resources. Maybe Hoke feels the same way - eventually down the road, Michigan with superior resources, talent and toughness to play "manball" pound the other teams into submission?
But maybe Hoke is Gen. Hooker all bluster and bombast and a failure in battle!
I have heard Hoke speak in person at press conferences and at the coaches show while at SDSU and he has ALWAYS said the same things during a loss (we did some nice things, gotta execute better, gotta cioach em up, we played hard) and and the same thing during a win (we played hard and executed, I give credit to the players etc). He ALWAYS likes the game plans for both the D and the O. He did change the toughness mentality at SDSU in a finesse conference. Here at UM he is not having the success he envisioned by repeating the same mantra. The mantras only work if you win an/or improve not regress.
just seems like an overpaid cheer leader! Are we paying him because he loves Michigan and upholds the Michigan man tradition? He has the "coach speak" down pat but not the coaching part!
