OT: UPDATE:****Need Prayers

Submitted by Ball Hawk on

My wife is at University of Michigan hospital about to have brain surgery at 2pm today. As im sitting here with her in the preoperative room, my nerves are going crazy waiting for the doctor. She is a huge football fan and she is connected to Michigan football through Facebook. So she usually informs me on recruiting if I haven't read it on here. I just ask for prayers for her. We both have faith in the doctors here. She's having a shunt put in her head because of fluid built up and will not drain. This is the last option. She's a trooper and she just said Go Blue with a smile!

[ED: PGB - I took the liberty of awarding you 1,000,000 MGoPoints for the week - may they provide you sustinence during the tough road ahead in hopes that the Board might serve as an escape (a crappy escape but an escape nonetheless).  Keep us updated!]

Update: My wife just went into the recovery room and the doctor said that everything went well and that she will stay overnight and go home tomorrow. I just have to worry about infection for the next 3 months. Everything is draining well from the shunt. I immediately had tears rolling down my face and gave the doctor a big hug. She has been through so much as a 30yr old woman. She just wants her life back and I think she's heading down the right path. I guarantee that your prayers made a huge difference and I pray that none of you ever have to go through this with anyone that you love. You guys are really great for support and Michigan won a huge battle for me and my family today. Now for the issues about our football team. I love this blog for the reason that we all are on the same side and we wanna win very bad. Everyone has different opinions and only time will tell what will happen. We are all very frustrated and losing faith in coaches but I will pray for this team to turn it around like you all have for me. In the end we will return to winning big ten championships. Thank you all and GO BLUE!

Certainly does.  Did a pretty good job this weekend of trying to keep my fandom in perspective.  It was a beautiful fall football day on Saturday.  It struck on all chords for fall in Michigan and I just enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  When we returned to the tailgate postgame, I tried desperately with some success to not let the outcome of the game ruin my perception of the day as a whole.

All of us Michigan fans, we are drawn closer by the victories and defeats of sports but even more so by real life events.  That is why I am forever grateful for family and value good friendships.

The football team does not deserve my time logging in and commenting here but you and your family does.  We all wish you the best of luck in and out of surgery.  Always remember that the Board has always been a community, a family if you will, and we are all here to help.  You have a friend in all of us and we'll do whatever we can for your family.  Just post here or contact us on Twitter or wherever and we'll be there for you.

Sending all the positive thoughts we can muster to you and your wife!!!

Good luck and will definitely pray for you guys.

My Grandma has some brain surgery a few years back (tumor removal). Such a tense day. God those minutes drag on forever. I will have my fingers crossed for ya. Not that I need to. Those doctors really know that they are doing nowadays.

I am sorry, but if your wife is going through something like this, why are you on a message board like this? I just hope this is not some prank. I have witnessed several posts like this on other message boards where it turned out later that it was just a prank. Something about this smells familiar. I hope that this is not some joke, and I am sorry if it is not, but even if it is true, good god man, drop the message board posts and put your focus on your family.

You must have been blessed thus far to not have had a seriously ill family member.  There is so much waiting and worrying.

I doubt this poster was neglecting a family member or sickbed duty to post--he was probably in one of those interminable periods where there is nothing to do but climb the walls and watch the clack hands crawl.

Go to whatever site might help that downtime go faster, I say, and find whatever distractions you can.

I rarely post (obviously) but was very moved by your post. It sure puts things in perspective. I'm confident the entire MGo community is behind you and your wife. Games are games. Life is not. Best wishes times a thousand.
