If anyone is wondering, men…

If anyone is wondering, men's lacrosse team lost 19-11.  Game wasn't particularly close at any point.

Basketball tanks, football…

Basketball tanks, football wins a natty.  Elston leaves, we get a basketball upset win.  I see you, balanced universe.

Outside of a co-DC role at…

Outside of a co-DC role at Central in 2005, Elston's been a position coach for the last 20 years.  I have to believe that if he desired a DC role, he would've had it by now.

Serious question, what does…

Serious question, what does Steve Clinkscale do? He's listed as defensive passing game coordinator for the past three seasons and co-DC for the last two, yet he only gets a passing mention for the DC spot. Is he not an integral part of game planning? Obviously I'd prefer to keep the band together, but if Minter leaves, I would assume Clink has absorbed just as much of the Ravens strategy as somebody like Zach Orr.

If they move back to San Diego.

Yup.  If the injury was…

Yup.  If the injury was serious criteria, they should've ranked FSU below Texas (and Oregon, and Ohio State) last week.  It's not like the Jordan Travis news just broke.  They weighed that info last week and put FSU at 4 anyways.  Wasn't until they had to reverse engineer Alabama into the playoffs that it had any affect on the rankings.

Win some more face-offs in…

Win some more face-offs in the second half and they'll have a shot at the upset.

Watching it live I agree…

Watching it live I agree with this take.  When I did focus on the DEs they rarely attempted any moves, just give the tackle a little push, grab his jersey and bob their head around looking for the QB.  6.9 YPA and 2 INTs with no pass rush... maybe they just trusted the secondary to get it done.

I thought foreign-born…

I thought foreign-born players couldn't collect NIL due to visa issues.  He a citizen?  Or was Miami offering a "classic" bag?

They've yet to allow 13 goals in a row, progress!

It's been 11 days since they played, I'd think an outbreak at the conference tourney would've been detected before now.

Are they assuming every school will have cancelled in-person classes by then?

You named two countries with…

You named two countries with universal health care.  The U contributes about 14k/year towards my health insurance.  Michigan employs about 40k people.  Granted, not all of that money comes from tuition, but that's still a big chunk of change that Oxford doesn't have to worry about.

Google says there's around…

Google says there's around 7000 international students at U of M.  You're not filling 7000 sublets in this climate.

I also question the benefits of ripping 7000 people from Ann Arbor's economy when businesses are already struggling.

We're closing in on July and…

We're closing in on July and the University has yet to mandate season ticket payment.  I'll assume no football until that changes.

When my son's daycare…

When my son's daycare reopened, they made it maybe half a day before deciding to ditch masks for the kids.  Masks are important, but just not feasible for the little ones.

The justification, at least…

The justification, at least for football and basketball, is that college sports makes for effective marketing.  Where we see MACtion as a Tuesday night time killer, CMU sees a four-hour national commercial.

It's an older article, but there's correlations between sports success and an increase in undergraduate applications:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/hbsworkingknowledge/2013/04/29/the-flutie-effect-how-athletic-success-boosts-college-applications/

... which increases the quantity and and quality of the student body.  Now, whether that marketing campaign needs to be tied to student fees to be successful, that's a question I can't answer.

The Wings were also ahead of…

The Wings were also ahead of other NHL teams with respect to international scouting.  Lidstrom and Kozlov were third-rounders, Federov in the 4th, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Konstantinov in the later rounds.  Easy to trade first-rounders for Shanny et al. when you have that luxury.

Page has a 2.98 ERA/1.16 WHIP on the season.  For comparison, Criswell has a 2.58 ERA/1.28 WHIP.  He's been fine this year.  If we're winning after 5, Criswell can come in for an extended close.  If not, we've got Kaufmann/Criswell tomorrow vs. Vandy's #3.
