06/13/2018 - 12:40pm Also love the site and…

Also love the site and appreciate that it is free, but I prefer the old, and not just because I dislike change.  I view 90% of the time on my iPhone, and it is just plain cumbersome to use now.  With the app, I could just tap the main page or board tab, and instantly see if there was new content or postings that I would want to read.  I can see my daily views decreasing already (not all bad for productivity), and would be sorry to see this be a bigger trend for this rare and excellent blog site.

Bell’s Double Two Hearted IPA.  Two of them, making a total of 8 hearts.

03/20/2018 - 10:44pm I’ve been using RPOs

I’ve been using RPOs myself, and I can tell you, they really work! I sometimes have a day without RPOs, and I can always tell the difference.

12/22/2017 - 5:21pm Pretty sure he was a QB

in a veer offense, and racked up a lot of rushing yards. Live in the area too and saw him play several times. Usually the best athlete on the field. But also only about 5’10”.

07/14/2017 - 10:20am Mike Schmidt 4 consecutive HR vs Cubs

April 17, 1976 - The wind was blowing out at Wrigly Field, and my high school friends and I made the unusual choice to not sit in the cheap bleacher seats.  We missed the hail of balls in the bleachers (and over the wall), but got to see a whale of a game.  The Cubbies were sitting comfortable up 13 to 2 in the 4th, but lost in 10 innings to the Phillies 18 to 16, largely due to Mike Schmidt.  He went 5 for 6, 8 RBI, and hit 4 consecutive home runs, including one in the 10th.  A total of 39 players appeared in the game, including 13 pitchers.  We got our money's worth.

06/29/2017 - 5:07pm Here's the key

If they are a lock and they commit, they were a lock. If they are a lock and they don't commit, they only seemed to be a lock. If they were a lock, commit, then decommit for their own reasons, it's a broken lock. If another team steals them, it's a picked lock. If more than one of these happens, it's a combination lock.

11/23/2016 - 6:50pm I think

I think you sit behind me in section 35.  Any defensive play that's not a TFL, or offensive play that isn't at least 20 yards, is an f'ing tragedy.

08/25/2016 - 4:56pm I'll be at West Ottawa

vs Mona Shores in a bit.  My last kid's last year of a varsity sport (snif).  Afer this season I will have nothing help divert me from my Wolverine obsession.

07/20/2016 - 1:31pm I was hoping

I was hoping to scout him a bit last year when he played West Ottawa (my son's team), but he never got on the field.  Someone later said he was injured but I never hear specifics.  Glad it's not a leg-related injury.

06/11/2016 - 7:56pm Sitting in the sun in Chicago

Sitting in the sun in Chicago waiting for Steely Dan. $14.50 for an Oberon. Somehow worth it.

05/25/2016 - 8:24pm Surprised to see other people

Surprised to see other people watch this. I love this show- but it seems like nobody I talk to has even heard of it. Well worth the time- especially for those of us that grew up during the Cold War.

04/09/2016 - 3:09pm Does anyone know if, on top

Does anyone know if, on top of it being a fun experience, they do any substantial coaching? My son started at corner at a large MI school as a junior, and may want to go if he'll actually learn something useful to up his game for senior year. He's not looking to get recruited, not quite at that level.

02/25/2016 - 8:21am 1975 Turkey Bowl

I had at least 10 catches and 3 touchdowns.  Shook off 2 concussions (curb as sideline marker seen in retrospect as unwise).  Eventually carted off the field with a broken collar bone, thanks to my big brother.

Aaron is an Ann Arbor guy - would have loved to see him in a winged helmet.  He is now the receivers coach for East Kentwood HS.

I went to ESPN site to complain logged in as a member (yes I'm embarrassed, my son likes the magazine) and they rejected my message because they suspect I'm a bot. Great way to shut down your dwindling customer base.

01/20/2016 - 11:48am The Romans

The Romans must have really struggled with algebra.

01/11/2016 - 3:06pm Clearly

As usual, that Lions player has no chance of catching Jimmy.

10/17/2015 - 1:42pm Is he injured?

My son played Rockford last night and Nordin never kicked.

10/01/2015 - 11:08pm Just to be clear

Just to be clear, I am not against advertising, and I don't doubt MGoBlog readers are an ideal target for DK. It's just that when I can't tell until half way through a front page posting whether I am reading content or an ad, I think it changes something big. Go Blue!

10/01/2015 - 9:36pm I totally respect

I totally respect that the blog needs to make money, and have no problem with advertising and having sponsors. However, I think blurring content with advertising like this is a mistake and degrades something that I think is about the best thing in the whole world. It may well be that my humble opinion matters not, but I mean this as sincere input and not a complaint.

09/25/2015 - 1:51pm YES!

My son is finally playing varsity after all these years.

09/25/2015 - 10:49am Would be the second

Would be the second Wolverine/West Ottawa Panther in a row to win.   Coincidence? Seriously, Renes was the guest speaker at the W.O. fall sports kickoff, and he gave a pretty inspirational lecture to the players about academic excellence.  It was also fun to watch all of his accolades projected behind him while so many Spartyfan parents frowned.

08/21/2015 - 8:58pm Yep

Des Morgan's alma mater.

08/21/2015 - 5:42pm Can't believe I have to DVR

Can't believe I have to DVR the first game of the Harbaugh era, and stay off the grid.  My son will be playing in his first varsity football game ever, and I'm not going to miss that.  The hardest part will be making sure no one sitting near me spills the beans and ruins it for me. Gotta remember to turn off all my push notifications too.

There may be a correlation between having short arms and being unflappable.

I recently talked to a local kid who was a recent B1G heavyweight wrestling champ (MSU) who was headed to NASCAR pit crew. He said they hire mostly D1 athletes.

05/13/2015 - 10:39am Saw Hibbets play

Went to the Hudsonville vs Muskegon playoff game since it was local, and to check out Deyonta Davis.  Didn't know Hibbits, but noticed him quickly.  While Davis is obviously an elite recruit, what a contrast in effort and character.  Davis loafed like crazy and just waited for a chance to show his skills.  Hibbets hustled his ass off and played really well in all aspects of the game (and led the way to quadruple overtime), while Davis fouled out on a technical (slammed the ball and complained after being called for another foul).   I'm not delusional -  I know Davis is an All-American, but Hibbits sure looks like the kind of player that could thrive under Beilein and staff.

Was doing paperwork at my office in Holland and thought a tree fell on the other side of the building. First one I've felt since one cracked our toilet in half as a kid in Montana.

04/10/2015 - 11:50am Of course the mother's

Of course the mother's position is absurd, but do we really need to judge her so harshly? Greedy people almost always come form a history of deprivation, of one kind or another.

12/16/2014 - 10:12am Really enjoyed the Super Bowl of Rock

It looks like the state of Michigan has a large tumor right in the middle.

09/26/2014 - 5:18pm Be there. Taking my son

Be there. Taking my son again. After all the groaning and gnashing of teeth, it's still Michigan football, it's still the Big House, and the sun will be shining!

02/15/2014 - 10:24pm Sacred Cow at ABC brewery. Then

My wife had to yell Go Blue at the large group of Wisconsin fans that walked in. They were super friendly, all asking where the parents section is because one was Gasser's dad. They were great sports and shared their brown ale pitchers. Makes it a little harder to hate Wiscy.

02/08/2014 - 8:38pm Went to a DIII game

Watched Hope destroy Albion to take sole possession of 1st place.

08/12/2013 - 12:58pm Yep -

At this moment my 14 yo son is in the middle of his first 2-a-day ever.  I believe he is running his ass off in the pouring rain as we speak. Oh, to be young again and not have to live off ibuprofen!

08/11/2013 - 11:49am I thought the same thing

I thought the same thing after watching those clips.  The bright side - they are going to need his ability to create something from nothing more than ever.

05/24/2013 - 11:45pm Just finished

A couple of White Hatters from the tap at New Holland.

05/20/2013 - 9:37pm Oh man

Oh man, was that a great read! Not sure I've ever read such straightforward unfiltered info from a coach. You clearly have established a solid relationship with Borges that will pay off for all of us.
