How about you just let folks here have some fun on the message board and share their thoughts and opinions without having to worry about a critic like you being so hard on them if they write something.  99.99999% of us are not high caliber, big-time football players or coaches, but we all care about the program, and we should be allowed to do that without dudes like you being so critical.

This one I don't like somuch...

DId I miss it, or did Brian's 'Hello' post mention somewhere that this dude actually played football in his life or coached in any way before he started helping Spurier out as a team "manager" during college doing odd jobs.  So what we have here is a dude who played tennis is high school, went to Florida, washed the team's jocks for a couple years and made good friends with SPurrier.  Spurrier then took the kid under his wing, taught him a few things, and he must have been a quick study because damn if the dude has not been an NFL coach.  What an odd but troubling past.  Then the guy has a severely iratic job history as he job-hops from job to job the last 5 years, at one point latching on to one semi-decent college QB at Miami that helps his resume out a little, but otherwise meh meh meh.  I don't know, man.  Jeez.

But ya, if Jim Harbaugh thinks this guy adds value that is enough for me at this point.  And he is the equivalent of four-deep on the coahcing roster so perhaps its not that big of a deal anyway.

My guess...

IT came down to two things: (1) Palo Alto; and (2) big ass raise.  The Palo Alto draw is big for the famlies of these dudes.  And relocating 2,000 miles east is tough on them.  I'm not discouraged at all.  It would have been nice, but in Harbaugh I Trust.  The dude will get it done!!!

Its also reported by the Wall Street Journal

and assuming he does as well as we hope, it will be much higher because the WSJ is reporting its $5 mill/year plus "incentives."

I'm with, you Carolina Joe

I have been stuck down in South Carolina for almost 9 years.  Its been painful to not only live in SEC Country during NCAAF season, but also to live down here during the last 8 year curse our Program seemed to be in the middle of since Nov 17, 2006.  This hire is epic.  To call it a "grand slam" hire even seems to fail to capture how huge this is.  Its like Mosses parting the fuckin seas kind of huge!  J.H is a rock star.  He is in the upper echelon of football coaches amongst the likes of Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, and Bill Belickick.  Jim Harbaugh is bigger and greater than even Urban Meyer.  Jim has succeeded at every level.  And his passion and allegiance for Michigan cannot be questioned.  Its not about the money.  If he wanted to stay in the NFL, he could have gotten the payday.  This is more.  This is a pilgramage for Jim.  Welcome home, coach!  You have made millions of Michigan faithful very happy today...

I see the Jets fired their

I see the Jets fired their head coach.   Others may fall in the NFL.  Its Monday monring and I am getting uncomfortable there is not a formal statement by Umich that its done.

On anotyher note, Mgoblog has been a trail blazer, a loyal steward of not only the Program but for all of us, and his coverage was thorough and impeccable.  I am ashamed to say I have been a subscriber to certain big-recruiter type websites at $99/year.  I cancelled my plan this monring and I will be making my first annual donation to Mgoblog right after the NEw Year...

You are very correct... You are very correct...
Also, throw in a Block M on Also, throw in a Block M on the shirt somewhere.

Im mildly comforted by the Im mildly comforted by the 12/31 ship date. If this goes side ways, Mgoblog will NOT let any of these get out the door. Aside from that, too premature, unless Brian and the Crew are with certain informtion that is so u believably 100% they feel its no-risk. Agree that the shirt should read "It Happened." Please make that change and I will buy one once the announcement is official.
Im a season tix holder. I Im a season tix holder. I intentionally withheld my PSD payment until I saw his this search plays out. Once this is JH hire is officially announced and the presser is complete, my check goes in the mail also.
Lets take the high road, all. Lets take the high road, all. Nothing good comes from engaging with these NFL "Insiders." You wont change their minds We are so close to closing the best deal this Program has seen since Bo. Lets keep it real.
Right on! Well said... @ glewe. Right on! Well said...
Please, not yet!

We gotta try to resist the temptation.  Lets not fuk with the football gods.  They have been pretty pissed with us the last seven years.  I'm just say'in...

How am I suppose to live on

How am I suppose to live on one or two Sarchbits the next three days?!  How?!  I'm addicted!  More!  More!!

What are the chances that Hackett's contact with the 49ers brass, him in the Pacific Time zone right now, AND reports by "Those Who Stay" about the contract deals coming out all pointt to Hackett working with the 49ers to give them some action and to get them to cooperate in a seamless hand-off of J.H from SanFran to Michigan?  This would allow UM to leaglly bind Harbaugh because it will be done in cooperation with the 49ers, and allow UM to remove the chance of other NFL suitors coming in to fuck this deal up at the 11th hour?  In return, JH is getting big dollars, big budgets, and big-time control over the program.  So J.H's camp is more than happy to work with UM  and the 49ers to get this done this week with a post 12/28 announcement for the salke of his current players.?

Do not like legacy jerseys

Definitley drop the legacy jersey thing.  Its a cheap marketing ploy to sell more jerseys.  And the part I dislike about it most is that it gets in the way of players having the chance to make their own hiostory with there own numbers.  What is Woodson (No.2) was compelled to wear one of thoise jerseys?  Would the No.2 have the same meaning?  Espcially to those of use that graduated that year and hold a special place for that 1997 squad.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! SERENITY NOW!!!
Video starts strong, gains Video starts strong, gains momentum, then fizzles out with an abrupt ending. Is there anyone out there adapt at this stuff that is willing to finish it off with a strong series of videos over epic gladiator-type chilling music?
Donors think its happening.

Donors think its happening.  Alumni think its happening.  Blogers think its happening.  Former players think its happening.  Current players think its happening.  The regents are holding special meetings.  If Jim ends of optng for the NFL there is going to be a mass suicide of epic, unprecedented proportions amongst Michigan faithful...  Jesus Christ, I cannot even bare the thought...

Dont like this. How did this offer become known? Did Harbaugh agents leak it? If so, POINT NFL. My buddy just emailed me expressing that he doesnt like the turn of events this evening. The longer Harbaugh wrestles with such a formidable offer the worse off our chances. At this point, if he is not our coach by 5pm tomorrow, its over...

Help keep us calm...

Brian, its time for another podcast.  Please run down all this chatter for us.  We are all being "patient," but at times its all I can do to not take an elevator to the top of the tallest building and jump off whilst cutting my own wrists with a plastic bag over my head.  This coaching search stress is the disease.  Hiring Jim Harbaugh is the antedote.  Until we get our medicine, your calming podcast words are our high dosage pain killers.

Well done, Jim Hackett!  I am

Well done, Jim Hackett!  I am extremely pleased with this development.  As an alumnus and season ticket holder, I emailed Dave Brandon after every single season begging him to pull back the reigns on his dastardly mission to "WOW" us during home games.  Every season I was just ignored, and the marketing minions under his control just seemed to polute the stadium experience more and more.  This seaosn was the first season in years that I did not attend any home games.  The reason is I live 800 miles away, the schedule was dead-on-arrival, and I just did not see myself dropping hundreds of dolalrs and time off of work to travel up for the game day experience Brandon created.  The firing of Lockman is a HUGE step in the right direction, and I think all of us will see immediate, instantaneous changes in our game day experience going forward.  Hackett (or who ever the permanent AD will be) just needs to remember one thing: keep it simple.

I am very pleased with Hackett thus far.  And for the time being, I am doing what he asked for during his Hoke-firing presser by being patient and believing that this awkwardly long and quiet coaching search is all part of a well-thought out hidden plan to land a top-notch HC.

Pain

I do not care how deep we are at Fern's position.  Its nevera good thing to lose a talent like him who also happens to be a high character guy by all accounts.

There have been lots of "exits" these days.  We've just gotta turn the corner... eventually...

And that crowd today. And that crowd today. Uhg... I read some comments from a few of you folks at the game. Speakimg as someone who watched it on TV It looked sparse to empty. Horrible sight. By the beginning of 4th It reminded me of clips and pics i saw of the stadium during games pre-Don Canham and Bo.
I admit to having some second I admit to having some second thoughts concerning Hoke. Ya, the win against the D+ opponent and all. Whatever. What struck me is the comnents Mason made during the 4th quarter broadcast that when he visited practice Thursday he was shocked and impressed how absolutely hard the team was practicing - impressive considering the season and all the distractions. These kids are loyal and playing hard for Coach Hoke. Thats gotta stand for something? Are we ready to throw put a hard working, loyal, Michigan Man who can recruite lights out? Seems to me Hoke is ready to pay a horrible price losing his job bc he has been stuck with inhereting a total O-line rebuild job and dealing with a QB that may have heart but is a non-clutch turnover machine. The methodical, meaaured side of me is telling me not to pull the plug and start over again with a new coach. The venom of Brandon is gone, and that is a very good thing. lets try to build on somthing hereon out.
Ugly More gimmicky garbage from the insane mind of Dave Brandon. I swear, i think his head is full of monkeys fighting over one banana. How about we just use our own traditionally rich uniforms and play night games under damn lights like other programs have for years and act like we've been there before? We can do without the dumb marketing titles and clown uniforms.
Help

I'm new to partiicpating in the coments.  Do you get a point each time you post a comment?

Thanks Brian, i find reading your emotional rants cathartic. You are the voice for many of us. And you bring levity to dire situations. Keep up the good work and thanks for being you.
Hand not being totally honest with himself. Engineering Schools ranked by US News and Reports: #7 U of M, #112 Alabama. This was not about academics, or career aspirations concerning civil engineering. I bet ya he doesn't even end up getting into their engineering program. He won't even finish his degree there if he is the player we think he will be. This was about Nick Saban, Alabama dominance, national championships, and selecting the place that will give him the best chance at an NFL contract. You really cannot blame the guy. But I still am disappointed. I thought this young man had something different about him, something special. From what I read, he was thoughtful, introspective, mature beyond his years, and likely the kind of recruiter hat wouldn't buy into the ESPN hype machine when it came to making his selection. I thought he valued relationships with coaches - all of which favored michigan. He went to Bama once. he spent one evening there. He came to michigan multiple times! he formed relationships with the coaches and other 2014 recruits. And at the end, none of that mattered. I wish him luck, but calling BS on the reasons he offered for his decision today. What do I know. I'm very bitter right now,...
Doubtful. Doubtful. The lure of the SEC hype machine and that Bama trophy case are too tempting for most 18 year olds that find themselves in Hand's position.
