Finally finished the pod,…

Finally finished the pod, encapsulates what I love about the blog, and Michigan Football. The tradition, the pageantry, and what the school means being an alum, its all so special. I found this site after my freshman year, and was ecstatic that I finally found a site that "got me," with people as passionate and information hungry as I was, and am.

Long live MGOBLOG, take us home blake!!

I would unironically be fine…

I would unironically be fine with this, provided we continue to beat state, and be competitive with OSU

I truly believe the…

I truly believe the administration has done their best to get a new contract done, but they cant overcome the basic fact that for the last three years, Jim has (at least in part) wanted to leave, and Michigan is NOT the NFL. Bummer, but...we won a natty, we ride with Sherrone.

On the flight back from…

On the flight back from Houston...made it to 13/15 games this year...my heart is so full for the kids, and the institution. I didn't think I would see it in my life..."warms the cockles of my heart."

Strongly seconded. Flight…

Strongly seconded. Flight from Chicago STRONGLY Michigan. Victors played over cabin speaker on both legs of flight.

Reading this in 2023...Go Blue. Not too many bigger ones than the game tomorrow.

I think the narrative about…

I think the narrative about always playing like crap the week before OSU is overblown, or can at least be explained in ways that aren't clearly Michigan looking forward to The Game:

  • 2015: Beat PSU in a white out at Beaver Stadium
  • 2016: Had a backup QB, who we later know turned out to be ghastly
  • 2017: If we don't lose Peters, probably beat a top ten undefeated Wisconsin team
  • 2018: Didn't play great, this one probably fits the narrative
  • 2019: Dropped 50 on Indiana...maybe the best the Gattis offense ever looked?
  • 2021: Dropped 54 on Maryland in a blowout
  • 2022: Massive spate of injuries (Corum goes down, Edwards, Schoon, Morris all out) against a very good Illinois defense

I think I'm justifiably nervous.

LOL isn't the "collusion"…

LOL isn't the "collusion" probably legal?

Occams razor--if Michigan had an ace in the hole that would have moved the needle, they would have used it.

It's not real.

On the rumblings that…

On the rumblings that Michigan would try to get a temporary restraining order/injunction should the Big Ten go after Harbaugh, I don't necessarily disagree with anything Michigan is doing, but I'm VERY, VERY squeamish about moving this into the legal realm. I'm not going to act like Michigan has nothing to hide and no skeletons in its closet that can be uncovered in civil litigation.

I, for one, would not be overly excited at the idea of Jim Harbaugh and Conor Stalions giving sworn testimony in open court. Civil litigation opens cans of worms that have taken down far more upstanding and virtuous institutions.

If Michigan's legal aim is to narrowly shoot for injunctive relief, that's fine. Should it go further, I have nightmares of Harbaugh getting skewered on witness redirect by the litigation teams of every top 25 law firm retained by other Big Ten schools as he perjures himself talking about Monty at the Battle of El-Alamein, or something.

I am more concerned with the…

I am more concerned with the general aura of disorganization within the AD, despite the overall success of the individual programs (i believe we set a new internal record for most big ten titles won in an academic year last year).

I've long liked Joe Parker, now at Colorado State. Was broomed out in Brandon's Cultural Revolution.

Hail Caesar, those of us…

Hail Caesar, those of us about to die salute you.

Kleiman is older, and has intimated he is done moving around...Huff or Elko would concern me.

I love Edwards for what he…

I love Edwards for what he did and what he could do, but man, for a dude who proclaimed himself a combo of Walter Payton and Barry Sanders, the actual running between the tackles is rife with freshman level mistakes, he seemed to progress at least in theory towards the end of last year.

I've been continually…

I've been continually surprised that Creighton has stuck at EMU as long as he has. I know he's in his mid-50's, but I would think his body of work would merit more interest at MSU-esque jobs.

As long as Harbaugh is able…

As long as Harbaugh is able to lead fall camp and weekly practicing, I'm unworried. Could even galvanize the team, chip on the shoulder. I would be concerned if he couldn't participate in camp installs and gameplan architecture. All told, I bet it looks a bit like OSU's 2018 (without a Purdue incident), and Sherrone takes over in the offseason. Reading between the lines, I wouldn't be surprised if this is probably it for Harbaugh at UM.

First-time commenter, long…

First-time commenter, long-time reader. Great post...I'm reminded in reading this that the "Harbaughffense" is surprisingly nebulous, even in his Michigan tenure, he's transitioned from pure gap stuff in 15-16, to a strange hybrid amalgamation in the Warriner tenure, (who famously argues that his OL's could run all of inside zone, outside zone, and power, which is unorthodox) to a primarily zone look now. I think some of the red zone struggles since Gattis took over are the struggles of zone blocking schemes to prevent free hitters in stacked boxes...I'd be interested to see a look at red zone efficiency throughout JIm's tenure to see if that bears out
